First time I've been glad for a Monday match in a while. Moved, painted, and unpacked all weekend. Will be nice to relax with a Gooner win today.

Also, a point today and it's St. Totteringham's Day.

Twas the night before St. Totteringham’s, when all through N5 Not a gooner was stirring, not even a child.
The kits were hung by the front door with care, In hopes that St Totteringham soon would be there.
The gooners were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of Özil a-danced in their heads.
And Madam in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled our brains for a long late spring nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the newly-built ground, Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects around.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a shimmering saint, stood there clutching a beer.
With a red and white kit, he was looking so hot, I knew in a moment it must be St Tott.
More rapid than eagles his chanting it came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
“Now Sanchez! now, Bellerin, Ramsey, Giroud, On, Welbeck, on Coquelin, heighten our mood!
Paulista! Ospina! Chamberlain! Walcott! Speed him along, that splendid Saint Tott!
And then, in a twinkling, we shall hear that cry, That comes every year despite how they try,
As we leap up and down and spin all around, Down to earth St Tott will come with a bound.
He’ll be dressed red and white, from his head to his foot, And 1961 embroidered on his boot.
He’ll point at the number and say “See here! They failed once again, it happens every year!”
His eyes-how they’ll twinkle! his dimples how merry! His cheeks are like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth will draw up like a bow, And the beard of his chin will be white as some snow.
He’ll be chubby and plump, a right jolly old gooner, “It comes every year, usually sooner,
They spend so much and I hope it’s not rude, One time I had to poison some Italian food!”
He’ll laugh and he’ll laugh ’til his face turns bright red, “Their Euro hopes lying there buried and dead,
You’d think they’d be happy with ITV 4, Their Thursdays, their Spursdays, they are such a bore.
He’ll spring to his feet, to the team give a whistle, And away they’ll all fly like the down of a thistle.
But we’ll hear him exclaim, ‘ere he drives out of sight, “Happy St Totteringham’s to all, and to all a good-night!”

Feels great, fellas. Our form this calendar year has been great to watch. Sucks we put ourselves into a hole in the first half of the season, but with a few good signings this summer, I feel great about next season.

Arsenal played really well. Ozil was toying with them. He had a couple of touches that were other worldly.

Let's assume that options such as Schneiderlin and Matiudi never materialize into signings this summer.

Do you guys think Axel Witsel would be a good signing to fill in the DM role? I'm not even sure if that is his natural position.

There are no rumors linking Arsenal to Witsel that I have seen. This is just me spitballing from looking at players on FIFA 15. Plus he has a sweet afro.

He would be much more Arteta-like than Coq-like, though he's a bit of a blend of both. He's not as disruptive as Coq. He's not as good a passer as Mikel. He's a highly skilled, sturdy deep lying mid. Good on the ball.

I think he'd be a good fit, though I like the balance Coquelin has given us and don't know how many players in the world could do what he's done.

apparently Arsenal have begun the stages of trying to land Schneiderlin. no formal offer yet. Southampton may be looking for Morgans replacement because they believe he is gone this summer.

some Cabaye talk heating up as well, most believe Yohan is leaving PSG this summer. would like Matuidi to leave with him.

Matchday, boys. Sadly I think the best Swans can hope for is a 0-0 draw but the form yall have been on I don't see that happening. Gomis is just returning from injury and Nelson Oliviera is out for the rest of the season so we are down to Marvin Emnes as our lone fully fit “striker” (he’s better as a #10 or winger).

One favor to ask - Please start Callum Chambers at right back again. Thanks.

Lol, was just thinking about that.

It's a shame Callum gets so much stick for that game. He's had a great year.

ETA: Good shite from AW on CC:

quote:

“First, his stature [suits that position],” he said. “The fact he is intelligent and reads the game well, the fact that he’s more at ease in the middle.
“On the flank, today you need more pace, more change of direction, more agility. He has the stamina, the power and the quality to be a central midfielder or a central defender.
“He’s pretty much there. At the moment I have players who have more experience than he has [at centre back], but in pre-season I will play him there.”

Another way to look at it is 4 points in the next 2 games locks up 3rd as well. It would give Arsenal 74 and ManU could only get to 72.

No striker in the starting 11 for us. Might expect Gomis on at half
Starting 11: Fabianski, Rangel, Fernandez, Williams (c), Taylor, Ki, Shelvey, Cork, Sigurdsson, Montero, Dyer.
