On another note, it's pretty crazy just how well Scholes has been playing. The guy is so damn old and is bossing the midfield. How can you be in form not only at that age, against high levels of competition, but with very short notice without a period to get fit?
Scholes, and Giggs. Just what is in the water over there

but in all likelihood they would be as useless as the current FA
as useless as these endline officials in the CL as well.

Agreed.

This match is in the works of a complete blow out. Villa's defense is just kicking the ball away deep in their own half right to United attacking players.
Valencia with the old shot that goes out for a throw in shank

Villa are such a boring team to watch these days.
At least Lichaj's done a bit better lately.

Lol, from the second gif the behind angle you can clearly see once his right foot comes down his sole intention was goign for the dive. No only that but he jumps in the air, scissor kicks his legs for flair, and takes a nose dive right toward the pitch.
In other news Untied finally nabs their second. They very well could score 5+ today, especially since City now have retaken the goal differential back from them.

On a completely unrelated note, I was looking at reddit (was looking at all the bitching about diving, actually mostly coming from ManU fans) and found this awesome video.. LINK
amazing goal.. but I also think its funny that the announcing is all in that language but they don't have a word for "offsides" and you keep hearing it mixed in..

Almost as pathetic as no Man U fan starting a game thread

Awesome goal, #20 definitely kept him on by the way. WTf 8-0, they were destroying that team

Watching the replay at halftime the Referee had an unimpeded view from only 10 feet away, sigh.
That 2nd goal late in the half is a backbreaker. I expect United to score 2 or more this second half.

We are awful. It's not helping that McRelegator started 4 center midfielders and 2 strikers who both seem to be playing in the midfield. 2 goals down and we need a goal? Heskey time. So now we are playing 3 center midfielders and 3 strikers in midfield so I guess it's a 4-3(3)

But how do they fare against speedy, counter attacking type squads? They look very susceptible having their fullbacks push up so highly, and Ferdinand not being near as good as he used to be.
It seems like teams like Napoli, Spanish sides who are all out on offense, and Man City would do fairly well against them.
This is a good question.
I really have't watched ManU play more than a couple of EPL matches either but did watch them against Benfica, Athletic Bilbao and Basel in Europe.
It was curious to see them struggle so badly against all these sides while at the same time simply steamrolling through the EPL fixtures.
Tactics?
Are English sides more intimidated?
Different officials?

I think its a combination of all that... it's impressive how theyve cruised through the EPL the last couple of decades... I think as time has gone on, the intimidation thing has grown...

clash of styles really
