We would finish 2nd in group to England in your scenario because the reality is we can’t beat Iran by 5 goals. You forgot about goal differential. England is at +4 and we’re at 0.

While true, Saudi just held Argentina to one goal and we played that with a bunch of back ups, and Japan held Germany to one goal. We actually pulled the trigger on some shots today for the first time in a while.

On bright side England beat those frickers 6-2 and we just went toe to toe with England and outshot them. We just have to break them early then they are on back foot forced to play catch up.

No one thinks it will be easy, it's the fricking World Cup. But it did get a hell of a lot easier than we thought it would at the beginning of the day when we all likely assumed that Wales was going to beat Iran and we were going against England.
Now, we don't need any outside help, just need to win against the weakest team in the group. There's a chance we may not win, but I'll gladly take those odds.
