2005 has the edge in the midfield and on the back line. 2015 wins because of their All-Time, ELITE front line.

Four center backs? Ok.

Boateng and Ramos were fullbacks once upon atime. I think Maldini and Nesta spent time there as well.

2005 easily better top to bottom, that's really the best back line that can be put together for 2015?

Yeah I think its pretty cut and dry in favor of '05.

Messi and Ronaldo are probably the only players who could make the 2005 team. Maybe the keepers but they are all too close at the top for that to really matter anyway.

Ramos over Thuram as well

Iniesta 2011 maybe, not now. I wouldn't take Zlatan on any team like this. Too much history of no showing when it matters.

At goal scoring and red card getting. Not at defending.

No way Buffon sits for Kahn and I personally would put in Sheva over Ruud but I have a Milan bias.
That bench in its prime would kill the 2015 team.

2005 easily. I was watching some of the 2006 WC matches recently and it really struck me how much better the national teams were back then compared to now. England has Neville, Cole, Gerrard, Ferdinand, Terry, Beckham, Lampard, Rooney and Owen and that team didn't even make it to the semis. Italy was stacked with Buffon, Cannavarro, Del Piero, Totti, Nesta and Pirlo. France had Vieira, Makalele, Zidane, Henry, Thuram and Ribery. Brazik had Kaka, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. Teams were just much better back then.

Could have used Kaka last year. Not the same elite player but his leadership.... he could have been the Wambach (hi Alexi)

I don't agree with that at all. France and Italy were better, sure. Barcelona, over the past 6 or 7 years, has been arguably the best football team of all time. We've seen Spain and Germany sides that have looked unbeatable for long stretches of games.
I mean, Greece won the Euro in 2004.
There are great players and great teams in every generation. The difference between 2005 and 2015 is marginal, at best.

or is Barca just amassed the best talent of a lesser generation and dominating?
