I was on a study abroad trip in France in the small town square watching this game with a group of fellow (American) students. We went nuts when that ball went in the back of the net, hugging and jumping up and down. The entire square knew the US had scored. The two Algerian guys sitting in front of us at the bar/café were significantly less amused

One of the craziest sports moments of anyone's lifetime. From the absolute state of being pissed about not advancing to the jubilation of the goal. One of the biggest reactions I've ever had watching sports on TV.

Barcelonnette. It’s a small town but with a Louisiana connection because some guys from there founded Arnaudville in Louisiana. LSU French department does a study abroad program there every year and it’s fantastic.
