We were there for Kav’s confirmation, and security for that alone was high. Capitol Police with rifles and dogs. Keep in mind the House wasn’t in session then.
The entire idea that unarmed citizens could overrun security is a farce. Anyone who has ever visited the Capitol knows this, and the doors that many people went through are only able to open from the inside.

In not the quite same way that a vote increase of 21M from 2016 to 2020 is a huge difference.

"Regarding "the Michigan fednapping", the FBI SAC in charge of the investigation into the fake attempt to kidnap the governor , where the majority of "kidnappers" were actually undercover FBI agents, was promptly reassigned to head........the investigation of the Jan. 6 pipe bomber. Not punished, reassigned & promoted. His said investigation yielded nothing, actually did not involve a real investigation. The lady who phoned in her sighting of a suspicious back pack was never contacted for any follow up questioning. That Pelosi led the Congressional committee's hearings says all that needs to be said about the validity of those hearings.

It appears to be, but it's also of note that Ed Martin and the rest of the DOJ never endorsed that theory. Clearly someone in a capacity to leak "info" was trying to get ahead of the story that led to this actual arrest.
Now, whether it was the good guys smoke screening before they closed in on this dude, or the bad guys seeking to muddy the waters as the investigation concluded remains to be seen
