According to federal filings examined by The New York Times, one or both of the Trump and Lutnick families have financial ties to at least 14 companies that are actively working with the federal government on critical mining deals, including the Kazakhstan project.

I would prefer they not use their government positions to enrich themselves or their families.

Me too. Can you link what Kazakhstan mining deals have been made with the federal government that the trumps have a financial interest in?

How did the Trump Organization make billions before Donald Trump was President? After he became President did people expect the Trump organization to just close and shut down?

Again... why the sudden concern? It's been absolutely fine for years now. Insider trading... fraudulent foundations... expensive garbage art... ghost written memoir after memoir with unknown high volume buyers... no show boardroom jobs... gigantic speaking fees...why just now the concern?

To be honest... we thought you folks were absolutely fine with it. Why the change?

Don Jr and Eric have been hired as experts in the data center, crypto and prediction market industries. I'm sure that had nothing to do with their access to the White House.

The Bidens are amateurs at grifting compared with the Trumps.

But why is it not ok now? Why has it been ignored and glossed over for so many years?

Again... we just thought we were the vast minority in opposition of it for decades. We were just out voiced by the majority. Just didn't worry about it any longer.

Why the shift now? All of the sudden?

In this newfound outrage... are the democrats rushing bills in to outlaw insider trading, investments in businesses with govt contracts, jobs for relatives that has a stake in government contracts, foreign corporate no show leadership jobs that have a tie to US aid or investment?? Government money to non profits ran by government elected officials, or past elected officials??

I'd love to read these new bills that are proposed.

It’s never been okay

Now that the Trumps are cashing in, and evidently so many don’t give a crap, the democrats can “do it too”

If no one takes a stand - ie Trump- we lose the moral high ground.

Because MAGA folk said Trump was different. That he had already made billions and wouldn't need to cash in on the office like his predecessors.

It's never been “fine for years”—-

You can't be the guy that comes into this claiming to be above it all and that you are going to get rid of it and then once there, you jump right in with the happenings.

It's ok to be a hypocrite—-just admit it.

Also, no one cared more about this than the MAGA cult. Hunter Biden making 10s of thousands was a hot topic for 4yrs. Now Trump and his associates are taking in billions and now they are claiming it's ok.

Can???

The same taking the "moral high ground" as "compromise" on legislation during republican majorities? The same "moral high ground" on the filibuster in the past? Health care legislation? The same "moral high ground" on approval of appointments? This obsession of taking the "moral high ground" with leftists is Paul Ryan, John Bohener, and John McCain "bend over and take it" politics.

Right here being part of it. The question is where were the people that are brand new about bitching about it have been.

I see a lot of people in this thread bitching about trump's grifting who also bitched frequently about the Biden crime family and Obama's grifts.

Sure it has. We have tons of geriatric representatives and senators making mega bucks in the market. There are scores of congressional and senatorial children and siblings in important private sector roles they have no business being in. There are loads of elected representatives and past elected representatives getting loads of grants to their "foundations".

Where have you been? Why worry about it now?

Like the house majority leader did in 2009? With no backlash on the hypocrisy? Hell that's been nearly 20 years ago.

quote:

It's ok to be a hypocrite—-just admit it.

That's absolutely RICH coming from a leftist. you got a million dollar Hunter painting on the wall? Remember the absolute hysterics you were in when it was found hunter was on the board of a Ukrainian gas company in a no show role? Oh wait...... you weren't were you. Remember when the Clintons cleaned up Haiti with their foundation work?

Hell... we can't get an ounce of concern about a Minnesota representative that has been right in the middle of massive MN taxpayer money fraud. Nothing. Zilch.

quote:

Also, no one cared more about this than the MAGA cult.

For years and years. Correct. Yet we got no joint outrage from the other side. If we did.... we could have stamped it out. But it didn't happen. Absolutely nothing came from the past grift. And there was zero leftist outrage. Hell... James Biden was right in the middle of outright Medicaid fraud. And nothing... zilch.

Again... why now??

So you think there is no moral high ground?
Two wrongs make a right?

I disagree

I believe our president should set a standard and it should be high. Republicans used to be the party of high moral standards. It’s not so much anymore.

That used to mean something
