They would just get replaced with other easily corruptible weaklings. The politician class is not the head of the snake. They're below the corporate oligarchs. Don't know who is above them, people that dont want to be publicly identifiable and people you arent going to find on the "world's richest" lists. People who use entities like the CIA and Mossad to do their bidding in the shadows.

I'd miss the Smithsonian, the Hope Diamond, and the original copy of the Constitution.
