Half the population has an IQ under 100.

You think most of them work in the private sector?

What side? Let me ask it this way..do you think that they should probably, when they get back to work stash a little money back for lean times? Like someone posted above..most people don’t have 500 dollars..that’s 10 bucks a week for a year..you can collect cans and get that much..

bullshite. They know when they'll be paid. Getting stiffed because they took the wrong job isn't the same as not knowing when you'll get your next paycheck.

if you're trying to use freelancing to make your point.

Apparently so if over 60% of folks can’t scrap together 500 dollars.

We are talking about the poor poor federal workers who may not get paid on schedule, but will get paid and have a shite ton of job rights that regular workers don't. That makes up for the known risk of a shut down when they took the job.

You may not realize it, but civil servants give up salary for job security. It's not like your average gov't employee is getting rich off his job.

Wilbur Ross should fill out the loan application of every furloughed employee.

It’s “a little bit of pain, but future generations will thank him for his sacrifice".

They should try working in the private sector where they don't have unions protecting them and their employer could lay them off at any time. That's how most of the rest of us live.

it’s because there is almost nil accountability for them and absolutely no profit/loss responsibility for them. Add this to the fact that they’re unionized and you have a tremendously bloated and inefficient workforce.

If they want to get rich they’re fully able to leave fedgov and go work in the private sector or even start their own business.

No, that's not what matters. What actually matters, NOW, is how are they going to put food on the table. Maybe they'll learn to save for next time. But that's the future, and what they should've done is the past, but what matters is the present.

No, in many instances they don't. They make arrangements but those often need flexibility. They get paid eventually, just like these federal workers will. But, I'm certain you'll go on and on with your lame argument as you usually do.

Seriously?

Do know what the labor participation rate is?

You think the smart people work for the government?

Do YOU work for the government?

Correct. So they know going into a job when they'll be paid.

These workers are waiting for our government to get their shite together and have no idea when they'll get another paycheck.

When was the last shutdown? 1800s? No. Not long ago. Remember the last time Schumer shut the govt down? Only 1 year ago. Of course, it will never happen again so why save any money for lean times.

That has nothing to do with the point. That's just your jealousy showing.

No one said they wanted to get rich. The point was actually the opposite, they give up some opportunity for money in exchange for job security. Why is this so hard for you to understand? Not everyone in the private sector gets rich at it, it's a risk. Some folks are more risk-averse than others. That's their choice and their business.

You don't know shite, but will keep going and going. You act as if the people I'm talking about are big businesses with collections departments. Nope, just guys who hope the arrangements are followed when those jobs occur. In fact, the federal workers are certain they'll get paid every cent. Not so for the plumber or mechanic.

Just like the examples I gave, it could be weeks or months. Tough shite for them.

A myth that state employee propagandists like you continue to spread.

Government employees receive higher total compensation than their private sector counterparts.

quote:

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that state and local government employee total compensation is now 47 percent higher than for private-sector employees.

Although a 2010 study by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) found full-time private industry workers worked an average of 12 percent more hours per year than state and local government workers, private-sector workers on average make less in every category.

Another study by the Congressional Budget Office showed that federal government employees at all levels except for jobs requiring the highest level of education receive higher total compensation than private sector employees.
