Nothing like those 6 month winters in the north country.
First winter at Fort Drum we went to JRTC with no snow on the ground. Our BN S3 and I shared a duplex with one pull start snow blower issued by installation housing. Came back from the rotation with three plus feet of lake effect snow on the ground and two pissed off spouses

I've got 2 drivers that make that run pretty regularly, and I just do it when 1 of them needs to be off work.

Naval Hospital Guantanamo Bay- Endless summer. Lot's of parties. Water sports year round. My Chief spent 20 years with SeaBees and Marine Recon. One of the coolest guys I ever met.

Naval Hospital Charleston, SC- Command Master Chief was a dick. Made all enlisted wear dress uniform on Fridays TO WORK IN A FREAKING HOSPITAL! Town wasn't much fun compared to San Diego or Pensacola.

Haven't we already talked before? My son was born there. I would do anything for jerk pork & chicken. I have tried for years to make it but it never tastes the same.

My kid who is in the Air Force did her training their after basic. She graduated before the shooting. I got the drive down to visit her. The base is very nice but I thought Pensacola way a dump of a beach town.

Yeah, Pensacola's not that great. But it wasn't too bad when I was there in the late 80s. It was good to have Destin and Gulf Shores nearby, though.

Pensacola is a great town and NAS was one of my favorite duty stations. I was stationed at NAS Jax, Norfolk Navy Base and Whiting Field. Along with Peterson AFB, Ft McPherson and Ft Rucker.

Favorite: Pensacola and Peterson
Least Favorite: Ft Rucker

I had a friend that got stationed in Minot. He was from Minnesota and even he couldn’t stand it.

A couple of years back I flew up to Minot to meet up with him and we road tripped to Alberta. We were driving through Saskatchewan, and we came across a small town with this billboard. You know you’re in the middle of fricking nowhere when you see billboards like this.

I don't know where that is. I just have to go through there now and then to make a delivery at Bar S in Altus, then go To Elk City. I really don't know much about the area, just curious about those rock piles. They are strange.

I live north of Ft. Sill (mentioned a lot lol) and there are some strange rock formations around there. The Wichita Mountains north of Lawton and on Ft. Sill are supposed to be one of the oldest ranges in the world but they are mostly underground now. The range runs from here to Amarillo and what your seeing are just the tips of the mountains. Through erosion, they've worn down a lot to the point where they look like piles of rocks. When we were kids we used to say they were roadrunner rocks like in the cartoon. Is that what you're seeing?

No, these are big and flat, but rounded around the edges and piled up in pyramid shape. I have been all over the country a lot, but I have never seen anything that looks quite the same as the ones I'm talking about. I've seen similar colored rocks further southwest, but generally more irregularly shaped. These are different, that's why it caught my attention. You might be able to look at them on google earth.

Yeah I tried. Can you narrow down the area or where they're at in relation to a marker of some sort?
