Sole Source is a type of No-bid contract. Would love to see the administration's Justification and Approval (J&A) authorizing the contracting agency to negotiate and award a contract to a single vendor without competitive bidding. What were the exigent circumstances and was there no other vendor available and capable of performing the work. Also, would love to see how the cost aligned and compared to the Government's Independent Cost Estimate. Of course, we will never see any of this information released, assuming it was done properly in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations.

Agreed, but *Usually* the reason (govt) issues a "Sole Source" contract is (in this case I would guess) there were limited contractors available and qualified to install/apply the brand or type of coating this was spec'd as. For the amount of money involved I wouldn't want Pedro's pool service installing something they've never worked with.

Don't know because the administration refuses to provide specifics. It also could have been over-priced, awarded to favorite, and justified to meet a non-emergency event (250 year celebration). I assume that the right thing was done, but as the old adage goes, "trust, but verify".
