Brother I think we should just concede that Displaced is in fact the master of the very-online discussion forum protocol and leave it alone

He'll feel very fulfilled and we'll get to resume our lives

This isn’t true. Most people on here think DeSantis is a really strong candidate.

If he ran in the primary against Trump and won that means he will have had to convince people he’s a better candidate than Trump.

I doubt this board is ready for that.

The thing I dislike the most on this board is the sentiment that we owe it to Trump. I get the sense there are a lot of people who are going to back Trump instead of DeSantis (in that hypothetical matchup) even though they think deep down DeSantis is the most substantive/meritorious candidate.

I'm not knives out for Trump and I'm pretty resigned to it, but I don't like that aspect of this.

Every Trump supporter knows he is a strong candidate. The difference is people that prefer Trump are voting for whichever gets the nomination.

I firmly believe that if Trump runs, Ron will not.

All of these people that are losing their positions are because of Trump. To downplay his status as a viable candidate is pure stupidity. His last two big wins were against RINO's who used Democratic crossovers to try and bolster their campaigns. If Trump so unpopular, then why are all of the Trump backed candidates succeeding?

Because Trump is that popular.

The biggest change politically in my lifetime is the current condition of NEITHER party being for the working man.

used to be there was always one of the two major parties that tried to make this political claim - WE ARE FOR THE WORKING MAN..

Now, NO ONE makes such claim..

The really bizarre thing is that dem supporters are behaving ONLY as sheep under the communists in the DNC

Nothing else. If MAGA is, and their America first is the only hope of working people, it makes them the only choice of workers

It’s impossible to say that in 2022. In 2014, no one on this board wanted Trump as a Republican Presidential candidate.

I want Trump in 2024 because I think it would make things a lot easier for DeSantis in 2028. DeSantis is still very young and still has a lot of work to do in Florida. I say let him finish his second term in Florida and then he has 2 years to run for president. When he does that he can still be his own man and still be MAGA in his own way. He can say that "Trump is Trump and Ron is Ron and I'm going to do things my way. The good news is my way is the MAGA way. If you loved Trump you'll love me more."

The DNC bows down to the big tech companies. I believe the reason is a lot of people that worked in the Obama administration got jobs with big tech. Now big tech and the DNC are glued at the hip because of personal relationships and big tech's agenda is a lot different than the "working man's" agenda.

I thought he was The Orange Jesus?

And Turtle did not run away from Trump before his reelection. In fact Trump endorsed Turtle.

This may be the dumbest comment in this thread.

Economic nationalism is going to be as rootless as libertarianism if you can't speak for traditionalists and conservatives long term....

...Rah rah wave the flag and build factories is pretty thin unless you get below the surface to family-centric policy, promotion of faith-based ideals, etc.candidly, that's how "conservatism" got to this bleak spot to begin with. We're terrified to say what we want morally and ethically for our country, so we talk about markets and cost-benefit, etc.

+100

Spectacular articulation of our reality and how we got here. Once the Family & God (Social Conservatism) pillars were discounted and tossed under the bus in lieu of Economic Conservatism, the foundation of American Nationalism was doomed to fail.

Our lack of courage & commitment to moral principles bit us. HARD. Likely irreparably /irredeemably.

This times one million.

I'd prefer Trump become President and azz-rape The Swamp into a coma, but I would gladly pull the lever for DeSantis if he is the nominee.
