All of this comes from the cult

Just don't take it personally. People have strong opinions. It doesn't bother me if someone thinks my ideas are stupid. They might be. That's fine. I've been convinced about certain things on this board. There are more than a few really bright individuals.
When it's all said and done, it doesn't matter that much anyway.

He pretty clearly just misspoke and said small majority when he meant small minority.
But you took it and ran with it and very clearly tried to make a point that you couldn’t be a cult because you weren’t a majority.
I can only respond to what's posted here. Unlike Trump superfans, I don't pretend to know shite I can't possibly know.
And SDV posting something completely retarded is not without precedent.
quote:
A cult is generally defined as a small group.
I wouldn't argue with that but generally is not exclusively.
One of the biggest cultish groups around my part of the world is the Mormon church. Google mormons and cult and you'll see a zillion hits. They are described as a cult routinely. There are nearly 20 million Mormons.

Invariably implies without exception and that's loony tunes.
What is “looney-tunes” is suggesting that Trump’s love of Big Gub’ment is an aberration from some form of pure “small government” Republicanism that has never existed — at least in my lifetime. That is an asinine claim.
quote:
Do you consider Trump a conservative?
In some ways yet this begs the question: what exactly do you mean by “conservative?” Again, the term “conservative” has been so devalued of meaning it holds no meaningful currency in the current political lexicon.
A better question would be whether I consider Trump to be a consistent supporter of the principles of limited government? And the answer there is absolutely NOT — and anyone who claims otherwise are themselves making an asinine assertion.
As a populist, wherever Trump’s MAGA agenda aligns with the principles of limited government are strictly incidental to his primary political instincts. And that brings us to Trump’s primary political appeal.
Trump’s success as a politician derives from his correct assessment that the permanent bipartisan reigning elite in Washington D.C. are not and have never been motivated by intellectual purity, noble intentions or even the peripheral betterment of the citizens. No, these political elites are motivated solely by self-interest through brute-power politics therefore pure brute-power politics is the only way to battle these deeply embedded interests in the Potomac Beltway.
Now, you can blame Trump and his supporters as much as you like for the rise of this populist faction on the right. Yet again, some measure of populist pushback is the very best outcome we can hope for in our nation’s wholly corrupted political environment.
This populist pushback is going to come from the BernieBro left or the MAGA right. Choose wisely because it is what it is.

Explain, in detail, how exactly Trump represents some aberration from the personality cults that buoyed the political fortunes of the Presidents that immediately preceded Trump in the White House?

That's because every Republican should be supporting Trump knowing that the Dums tried everything they could to discredit him and have him removed from his first term as President by any means necessary.

It's good the "conservatives" on this forum are having some serious disagreement and banter over which R primary candidate is best suited to save the constitutional republic. I like the contentious nature of this forum right now, it proves "conservatives" are not brain dead drones like the vast majority of Dims/Groomers.
Exactly. If all you seek in political discussion is to obligingly nod as you drool into your morning bowl of oatmeal, you would be better served by posting over on nationalreview.com or the democraticunderground.com lamenting the threat Trump poses to “dEmOnCrazy.”

I don't post here much but watching some posters fall into very severe TDS has been pretty funny lately

FWIW, growing up as a child, our next door neighbors were Mormon and no one could ask for more considerate neighbors. My impression of the Mormon Church will always be filtered by the high esteem I had of those kind and decent people.

That avatar pic, your sig & you being a “fan” of Yale AND COINTELPRO suggests to me you should post here more often! Somehow the existence of that pic of Tucker and Jerry had escaped my notice until I encountered a post of yours a few months or so ago. It’s awesome!

I recently moved to Utah.
It’s much like a cult from my perspective so far.

I can only speak to my own experience.
Utah is actually one of the handful of states I have never visited so I am in no position to argue against your opinion nor do I claim to hold any special insight into the belief system of the LDS church.
With that said, I was born and raised in Alabama and people from outside the region say the same thing about the prevailing religious disposition of many Southerners.

No. You are correct.l. Absolutely.
They are nice for sure. But very closed off.
I worked in Clearwater during the time Scientologists had pretty much taken over downtown and they are definitely a cult.
LDS doesn’t seem to be that level but they are close. They keep to themselves, they have secrets.
They even wear green aprons with fig leaves on them to represent Adam and Eve
Right this moment I’m watching a mini series about a Mormon murder and the events surrounding it.
All kinds of weird stuff.
Don’t even get me started in the golden plates only Smith could translate because it was written in an unknown language.
