I've been eating them since I was a kid in the 80s when they came out. You know, before the chemistry set was added to the ingredient list.

First, there's a lot of space in between "health conscious" and being unnecessarily slowly poisoned by additives you don't even know exist.
If you eat enough Skittles for the titanium dioxide to matter you've already poisoned yourself with the sugar.
I don't mind the bully pulpit being used here to reduce this stuff and I'm all for healthier food, I just think Skittles is a freaking odd example. It's like taking titanium dioxide out of unfiltered Camels.

This is pretty funny. No one eating Skittles is going to give a shite whats inside, nor will they eat enough to be negatively affected.\
People dont go to McDonalds for healthy food, nor eat Skittles for the same reason.

It's a slow drip of disclosure. Take a well-known product, make it the poster child for the toxic additive and teach Americans the dangers of it.
It's only natural to wonder where else companies are squirreling these poisons away, so folks will begin to educate themselves about it. Those sufficiently motivated will either demand the manufacturers change their formulas/recipes, or consumers will stop buying the product.
Either way, consumers have the chance to vote with their wallets, and that's the only language that corporations really speak.

I get that, hence my statement "I don't mind the bully pulpit being used here".
It's still an odd example. Skittles are probably solidified corn syrup with some citric acid and who the hell knows what else. I'm surprised he's not railing against their existence.

I assume you meant to direct that to a different post

Yea but you need puberty blockers and really sharp scissors to make a woman.

I assume they are going after these products that affect children's foods/snacks as the easy way into the door in order to make larger changes. Just doing a quick search on titanium dioxide and I found this:
quote:
Titanium dioxide is a food additive that can be found in a wide variety of processed foods, primarily to impart a white color or to enhance the color of other ingredients. It's often used in products like candy, chewing gum, baked goods, coffee creamers, sauces, milk, frozen pizza, chocolate, supplements, and salad dressings.

Grok says:
quote:
Titanium dioxide is a common additive used as a whitening or opacifying agent in various products, particularly in foods, cosmetics, and personal care items. Based on available information, here are five well-known products or product categories sold in the United States that commonly contain titanium dioxide:
Skittles - This popular candy is frequently cited for containing titanium dioxide, which enhances the bright, white appearance of its colorful coating.
Kraft Mac & Cheese - Certain varieties, such as the Original Mac & Cheese, may contain titanium dioxide as an artificial color to improve visual appeal, though some formulations are titanium dioxide-free.
Little Debbie Snacks (e.g., Fudge Rounds) - These widely consumed baked goods often use titanium dioxide in frostings or coatings to achieve a bright, white appearance.
Coffee Creamers - Many popular non-dairy coffee creamers, such as those by major brands, include titanium dioxide to enhance whiteness and opacity.
Sunscreens - Titanium dioxide is a key ingredient in many well-known sunscreen brands due to its UV-blocking and whitening properties, often found in products labeled as physical or mineral sunscreens.
Note that titanium dioxide may not always be listed explicitly on ingredient labels, as it can be included under terms like “artificial color.” Product formulations can vary, so checking labels is recommended.

Y'all need to read up on the story of Oreos, its "creme", and the two dudes convicted of being spies for china.

Edgy. Like a butter knife.

Just compare the ingredients and there’s your answer

Again... children. Children eat candy. That alone is reason enough to reduce unnecessary additives.

I'm no Rubio apologist, but dude's been pretty impressive as SecState.
Now, is he toeing the MAGA line because he's cast off his neocon, RINO ways, or is he still the same cuck with the Sword of Damocles over his head?
Don't know, but the results are full MAGA, and I'm here for it.
