WSJ: Young Conservatives Have an Unlikely New Icon: Richard Nixon

The kids are “Nixonmaxxing.”
More than half a century after Watergate, conservative youth are discovering the aesthetic, and adopting the attitude, of the late Richard Nixon.
It’s a vibe. Videos that feature archival footage of the famously square 37th president over rap music from artists such as Drake and Biggie Smalls are going viral on Instagram and YouTube. Influencers sport ball caps, crew necks and fanny packs emblazoned with messages such as “Pretty Girls for Nixon” and “Nixon Now More Than Ever.” Hats stamped with “Nixonmaxxing” sold out in a matter of hours earlier this year.
“Nixon hype edit was not something I knew I needed,” one fan wrote in the comments of a recent Instagram video. “Is Nixon pulling off the greatest posthumous political comeback in history?” someone else wrote.
Now, Nixon is being recast as a forerunner of “America First” by a new generation of conservatives: a combative president loathed by the press and besieged by investigators who was brought down by the same establishment they believe targeted President Trump.
While Trump’s admiration for Nixon dates back decades, the former president’s downfall is gaining new resonance in his second term as the White House challenges post-Watergate restraints on presidential power. What began as 1970s nostalgia memes and revisionist essays by alternative intellectuals is now being echoed by the most powerful Republican politicians in the country.
“I think that his historical legacy is enjoying a bit of a renaissance,” Vice President JD Vance said last month at an event at the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, Calif. “And I think deservedly so.”

The kids who idolize Nixon are mostly NEOCON NeverTrumpers who pretend to be conservative, but actually do nothing but fight other conservatives on behalf of protecting progressive causes. They are conservative and pro business, but believe in net zero carbon to combat global warming. They believe in strength to oppose evil Russian fascism but desire detente and alliance with China. They are nothing but an astroturfed movement funded by Koch Bros and Soros types.

Are people wrong for not trusting how Watergate went down? Knowing what we know now?

He never should have resigned. Watergate was nothing.

Ask a thousand kids age 18-20 about Nixon.
A very low percentage would even know he was President

Nixon was maybe the only president since JFK who knew how evil the Jew was...
So he made one his Secretary of State.

Nixon was 100% railroaded by the deep state. Nixon was a pretty good president. Watergate was a set-up.
With that said, I have seen in young republican spaces a psyop of allegedly Nixonite conservatives who are nothing more than mouthpieces for globohomo anti-trumpers. They use Nixon’s creation of the EPA as their reasoning for creating a conservationist vision for the Republican Party. That sounds all well and good, but nothing they promote is actually conservationism at all, it’s only pro-cap and trade global warming nonsense recycled from An Inconvenient Truth.
It’s not as big a psyop as the Groypers, but it’s noticeable.

We definitely need more serious journalism based on internet memes.
There has been some serious research into the role of top brass in military intelligence spying on Nixon and trying to take control of foreign policy away from him, but the memes are juicier and easier to mock.

Compared to the Hillary-Obama-Biden cartel it was child's play.

You've witnessed 10 years of exactly what was done for Watergate and they got away with it

Barry Goldwater told Nixon there was a very good chance he was getting removed from office by the Senate.
