New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s top advisers successfully pushed state health officials to strip a public report of data showing that more nursing-home residents had died of Covid-19 than the administration had acknowledged, according to people with knowledge of the report’s production.

The July report, which examined the factors that led to the spread of the virus in nursing homes, focused only on residents who died inside long-term-care facilities, leaving out those who had died in hospitals after becoming sick in nursing homes. As a result, the report said 6,432 nursing-home residents had died—a significant undercount of the death toll attributed to the state’s most vulnerable population, the people said.

The changes Mr. Cuomo’s aides and health officials made to the nursing-home report, which haven’t been previously disclosed, reveal that the state possessed a fuller accounting of out-of-facility nursing-home deaths as early as the summer of 2020. The Health Department resisted calls by state and federal lawmakers, media outlets and others to release the data for another eight months.

Cuomo Advisers Altered Report on Covid-19 Nursing-Home Deaths

But when you look at the whole picture, and take into account we knew this months ago, when the media was praising, giving him rewards and Emmys, you just have to ask yourself what in the world is this media and justice system doing and what are their motivations when they actually prosecute people and hold them accountable.

All the national and international media in New York City for years going after the Republican Governor of New Jersey (justifiably so in a few instances) right across the river, but can’t find any fault with that Democrat governor just up the river in Albany? Hmmm....

this is blatantly illegal. It violates so many federal and state level laws for governors to alter public health reports.

When will charges be filed RE this? This crime cannot be swept under the rug. Elderly people who died because of his policies and their coverup need justice.

Glad to see we're back on topic: Leftist dream governor killed a bunch of grandmas and tried to cover it up just to win elections.

Honestly, at this point, does ANYONE expect or see anything other than fraud, lies, deception, and corruption from ANY high ranking Democrat official, whether elected or appointed? Why are we acting so surprised at all of these disclosures? There's much more to come and barring a possible, credible impeachment attempt after 2022 elections, we are ALL going to have to endure 4 more years of this continuing massive fraud, unconstitutional power grab, and ridiculous, progressive new legislation.

For what?
murder and then covering it up.

If it was all on the level, why were Cuomo and his staff manipulating the numbers? Usually the coverup if worse than the crime, but killing senior citizens for political purposes is about as bad as it gets

Without getting specific on charges, knowingly putting COVID-19 infected patients into an environment with high risk(elderly) people is at the very least negligence. Then we can move on to falsifying documents/data which I’m sure there are a myriad of charges. Are we really gonna pretend this dude has done nothing criminal?

I’m asking you to be specific on charges. Where is more appropriate to place someone that needs skilled care, health department regulated infection control, trained/licensed staff, than a skilled care facility? SNF, in theory, should be the safest place on earth to send Covid positives. The negligence is on the part of SNF personnel, quite obviously.

How has he falsified documents/data? Sure, he gained some knowledge in hindsight that demographic data was skewed, not really making a difference in the grand scheme of things. This myriad of charges you bring up don’t exist, because this is a reporting process anomaly at no fault to Cuomo. The approach in LTC facilities when a test comes back positive is 1) Can we send this person somewhere else? Anywhere else? 2) If we have to care for them here, so be it.

If a resident gets run over by the facility bus and later dies in the hospital, the facility doesn’t report this as a death on premises. If a resident falls and fractures their skull and later dies in the hospital, the facility doesn’t report this as a death on premises. If a resident tests positive for Covid and later dies in the hospital or alternative LTAC, the facility doesn’t report this as a death on premises. Because they’re not. LTCs are reporting as required and people are latching onto media driven inaccuracies. If you think Cuomo benefits politically from the under(inaccurate)-reporting of SNF deaths when deaths are still a state metric, and that Cuomo benefits politically from an inflated death count in general public (vs. at SNF), then I don’t know what to tell you.

I am sitting here stunned at you. Cuomo has been getting widespread, bipartisan condemnation for his handling of the nursing homes during covid. His approval rating in NY is down a net 25 points, and by a 56-38 margin, voters don't want him to run again.

Multiple democratic lawmakers in the state are calling for him to be investigated and even resign.

You are the first person I have met yet who is defending cuomo.
