a Hindu
He is probably a Hindu in name only like most politicians are Christian in name only. Certainly Joe, Hillary, Barack, and Nancy don’t actually believe their professed religious convictions.
I would vote for Vivek, or Trump, or whomever the primary winner is. There are a lot of dumb Christians though who won’t vote for the Hindu - guess they’d rather have communism and no rights. I think Vivek is making a mistake by not having previously “converted” to a Protestant Christian religion (which includes the most bigoted people in my opinion). Catholics won’t have a problem voting for a Protestant, but many Protestants don’t consider Cargill to be Christian.
Side note:
Hinduism is much older than Christianity and even “second temple” Mosaic law type Judaism. The father of the Hindu religion is the god Brahma, and their writing system is called Sanskrit. There are no vowels in ancient Sanskrit just like there were no vowels in ancient Jewish scripts.
The claimed father of Judaism is Abraham. I’m transliterating in English but Abraham was written BRHM.
Guess how Brahma was spelled in Sanskrit? BRHM.
Brahma’s wife is Saraswati. Abraham’s wife was Sarai. That’s one heck of a coincidence!

I think it's unlikely voting for a Hindu vs. an areligious person (Trump, for example) makes a considerable difference

There’s a strong chance that Vivek lives a lifestyle that more closely aligns with your values than does Donald Trump.

They voted for Trump. He wasn't exactly a beacon of Christianity.

Sure. Just not the one running for President.

Is it really worse that a dysfunctional Catholic who can’t even validate his own denomination’s basic morality? It’s certainly not ideal, but it’s a far side better than what we have at present I’d say. Anything to the right of that is.

I would because they know what is goin g to happen before it happens and if stuff goes bad, they can use magic.

IQ is overrated after hitting a certain baseline. I’d take someone with a 125 over someone with a 150 in a lot of situations.
If IQ was most important in governing, we’d have IQ tests instead of elections.
And yes, I’d be fine with a Hindi President, all else being equal.

What's being a Hindu got to do with it?

Why not? I vote for heathens all the time.

quote:Christianity is based on truths that have always existed, regardless of when Jesus’ incarnation took place. Jesus existed as the second person of the Triune God from all eternity past. The promise of the messiah to come was given in the garden before Hinduism, Judaism, or Christianity were words uttered by anyone.
Many elements of the christian religion were taken from Hinduism, which makes sense since it it a much older religion.
Don’t mistake the formation of a religion with the existence of religious truth.

Maybe, maybe not. But right now our pal Joe Biden just sent 3000 American soldiers to the Poland - Belarus area. Presumably, that's Biden's commitment to escalation of the War with Russia (notice I didn't say Proxy War with Russia).
So since I want peace, and since during Trump's time in office we did NOT have a single outbreak of war that resulted in the deployment of American soldiers, then Trump mirrors my values. Trump was tested in office, Vivek was not. I'll take an experienced guy (like Trump) every time. Way too much at stake here.
Bottom line. I've found the Truth, you and Vivek haven't. If Vivek is so intelligent, then how come he follows a religion that believes his friends Brahma cow is a reincarnated version of an ancestor? A cow pissing on my feet is not a disgruntled relative, it's still a cow.
Truth, what is that? - Pontius Pilate

You don’t know anything about me other than I think supporting Donald Trump and dismissing a Hindu outright for being a Hindu is irrational (because it is).

Yes. There’s nothing in the Bible that can be easily made to seem silly, fantastical, and juvenile to believe in as an adult.
Its wild that Donald Trump of all people won over evangelicals to such an extent that he did.

You don’t know anything about me
Your opposition to Donald Trump tells me all I need to know about you. My truths and the truth of my generation created the greatest economic expansion in the history of mankind. We did that after saving the world from tyranny. My uncles and distant cousins stormed the beaches of Normandy just so you could spew your garbage. But just guessing from your garbage I'd say you're a Moral Relativist. Over my decades on this earth,I've learned you can't argue with someone void of absolute truth. Vote for whomever you want.
Oh, and my generation all believed basically in the same thing, including a monotheistic God.
Have a great day.
