Wonder why it seems so many don’t understand what a MoU actually is

People just don't get it.

They don't understand what a "Memorandum of Understanding" ("MOU") actually is.

Trump is a businessman first and foremost, and I'm a corporate lawyer who has done a lot of financings and mergers, so I think I get where he is coming from.

An MOU is merely an initial framework for deal negotiations. MOUs are generally non-binding, and they simply chart a path towards a definitive agreement.

Deals fall through all the time even after an MOU is signed, and if the deal actually closes, about 95% of the time the definitive agreement differs materially from the MOU based on diligence and further negotiations.

Trump knows this, and it's how he thinks.

Willful ignorance, education system failure, or agenda to be pushed?

Something tells me it’s probably mostly option #3

You obviously haven’t done business dealing with contracts.

The fine print. Though lawyers will then argue the definitions of words. How do you sign a deal with someone if you know that the other entity is going to break their word? Or at least has a history of not keeping their word.

It is incredible, isn't it? Besides, our society is only as strong as its weakest link, right?

That should scare the $h17 out of everyone knowing how easy it is to manipulate so many.

The importance of the MOU is Iran permitting shipping through the SOH

This nonchalant "oh the MOU isn't a big deal" talking point is pretty dumb considering why the MOU was done and why it is so important (from Trump's perspective)

If Iran closes the SOH again then the chances of global economic pain become very real, very quickly

The real-time impact of the MOU is immense, as is the perception of permanence.

So after this remark prefacing his message, you still think everyone needs to know what a MoU is for their regular lives? News flash: very few people already know what it means. And it’s not dependent on where they fall on the political spectrum.

Now, do more people know this now compared to a month ago? Of course. Does that make it common knowledge as you imply? Not at all.

I can see him getting upset if Iran messes around for the next 45-60 days and doesn't engage in good faith whatsoever. But, why does he have to chimp out with an insane tweet on the very day the thing is supposed to take effect?

I don't kno2. Maybe you build incentives, penalties, progress milestones, etc. Into the contract so that progress or failure iss documented.
If they're not going to uphold their end, then they're not. Go back to war, but at least try before continuing the less desirable and costly war. We may end up there yet, but at least try an alternative.

I'm very seldom going to drive under the speed limit. The police should at least try to ticket me.

Let me just skip a few dialogue boxes so we can cut to the chase:

"You sound like a panican, Iran is going to shut down the global economy with bass boats?"
"*Video of trump saying it*"
"He's just saying that to throw people off. You TDS tards haven't figured out Trump speak yet!"

This is certainly the first time I've been called a Leftist for taking a stance 100% supported by Trump's unequivocal stance/language.

Fascinating behavior

Don't post every tweet you see you think is awesome. You're starting to completely entangle other threads you've started and make things pretty GD murky and stupid. Friendly advice.
