They have been paid off to "take a dive". Imagine getting that paycheck, then the illegal graft/bribes/insider trading, and then not really having to do your job.

It seems that a lot of companies (like the one I work for) have gone to shite by trying to cut their way to a profit and are trying to keep their stock price up by sucking up to DEI investors.
Shitty decisions on top of shitty decisions.
When companies are controlled by dickheads only concerned with their bonuses and the stock price, stupid shite happens.
The facility I work at is a potential gold mine for them. 20 years ago we were breaking company records for production and quality, and we could again. Instead they've spent the last 15 years cutting and cutting and cutting. Lines down for weeks waiting on parts we used to keep in stock. Quality falling due to raggedy equipment that was old when I started in '86.
Now they're pouring money into expanding DEI programs.
It's sad and it pisses me off.
Shitbags, all of them.

Nah. I know some board members and c-level people. They hear from leftist pressure groups multiple times a day. Never hear from any conservative groups. At all. Because of their jobs, they are pretty isolated, so it’s easy to think the world has completely shifted. Add the ESG scoring bullshart as noted and you have a perfect storm. Conservatives have… basically nothing to counter with. Still.

Went kubota on my last 50 hp class tractor, looked at all the other brands for my new cabbed hundred horse, wound up going with Massey Ferguson 4710 4wd for many reasons, highly recommended.

Their construction equipment is trash, and I'll never darken their door after my last experience with buying a machine from them. I don't even take their tractors into consideration. They are not the JD of 22 years ago.

It's the same theory as with school boards and local politics. Conservatives don't want a bunch of change so see no need to strongly voice their opinions.

Meanwhile, the leftist/dems are screaming 24 hours a day and advocating for change with actions.

If you like the way things are why would you call up your JD rep every month the past 20 years and tell him to not go all DEI? You would assume that a company like that wouldn't need to be told.

Cascade Investments (Gates) owns 19.771 million
Blackrock owns 17.236 million
JP Morgan owns 13.8 million
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation owns 3.5 million

Cascade along with B&M Gates Foundation holdings put Gates as the largest.

This is as of 3/31/24 filings (except for Cascade which is 1/2/24)

I usually minimize the negative impact of DEI type stuff when it comes to Nike, Starbucks...etc, etc....but John Deere?

Time to switch to Kubota, folks. They have a superior product anyway.

I've beat the living shite out of an L3000D for over 20 years and it's still running flawlessly.

It's not that. In order to appear attractive to some major investors and fund managers, they have to have good ESG scores. That means they have to satisfy leftists through fealty to the climate change agenda, diversity, etc. Those with a fiduciary responsibility have manipulated their thinking into believing that good ESG scores correlate with stability. You can bet there are a few "studies" with manipulated results that suggest that, hence justifying their push.
if this is true, why did Tractor Supply change their woke policies? It is a known fact that Tractor Supply changed their policies due to customer feedback.

Solid post!

I wonder if they do what Tractor Supply did.

The new European law makes just about every corporation in the world bend the knee to this crap.

why tractor supply change

Tractor supply requires nowhere near capital Deere does.
Deere plants are likely costing in billions.

Tractor supply runs retail, probably has some Warehousing.

Totally different capital needs.

Just bought a little Kubota a couple of weeks ago. For all I know, they may be as bad or worse, but I think it will be a better tractor.

Both CAT and DEERE are homosexual pandering companies. Avoid them both.

They still have a relatively good ESG score. .
Maybe the changes haven't registered at yahoo finance yet. But, they may have only changed window dressing leftist policies and the real more meaningful ones are intact.

This is funny and I am glad I am not imagining things... because I saw some random John Deere commercial recently where it was all black people in the commercial and I rolled my eyes. Now I know I wasn't imagining things and simply just being racist.

I would love to see the data on how much of John Deere's market share is black folk.

All you have to do, when you see a company like Tractor Supply and John Deere pulling this shite, is check to see if they are publicly traded.

If they are? The explanation is ESG and BlackRock "forcing behaviors."

Or the German company Fendt.
Since they are owned by AGCO they may be woke as well.

not saying the rest is not true, but when one part isn't accurate you have to question the whole. I am looking at an email I received from John Deere regarding one of our skidders and there is nothing in the signature referring to any "preferred pronouns".

Massey makes a good product. If they could build up their dealer support here in the US they could contend with the big dogs. I have a 35hp that has been solid along with 3 Kubota tractors. For large Ag tractors i would look at CaseIH or Massey.

TOOO Slow, and not enough!!

Their residential lawn equipment sucks!!

I own a Gravely and have no issues after 10+ years running. My neighbor have John Deere and they are always trailering them to the shop. They seem to spend more time in the dealer's than on the lawn.

Nothing runs like a Deere! No chit, every OTHER mfg actually runs, and well....
