Michigan has always been known as a public Ivy along with UVA and Berkeley.
Ford also went to Yale Law School after playing ball for Michigan. Byron White, Supreme Court Justice, also went to Yale Law School after playing ball at Colorado. White was a first round draft pick in the NFL draft and actually played in the NFL for a little while.

His son, Danny White had quite a career as a punter, backup QB to Roger Staubach, and then a few years as the starter for the Cowboys.
