From Fox News update on phone just now:
quote:

Dozens of celebrities call on Joe Biden, Kamala Harris to shut down the Dakota Access Pipeline...The letter comes just three weeks after the Democratic president signed an executive order on his first day in office to stop the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline. The move effectively revoked the permit for the project, which demonstrated the new administration's commitment to "a sustainable climate pathway to protect Americans and the domestic economy from harmful climate impacts," according to the order. Now, more than 200 celebrities, climate activists, indigenous leaders and more have signed a letter calling on the Biden administration to continue its commitment by ending the long-disputed Dakota Access Pipeline.

KATY PERRY, MORE STARS ATTEND GOOGLE SUMMIT ON CLIMATE CHANGE IN PRIVATE JETS, MEGA YACHTS

"Thank you for your administration's early focus on climate change, tribal sovereignty, and racial justice and equity, including your decision to stop the Keystone XL Pipeline," the letter begins. It continues: "As your Administration takes action to address the climate crisis and strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities, we respectfully urge you to reverse another harmful Trump Administration decision and immediately shut down the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) during its court-ordered environmental review."

Celebrities who lent their names to the letter include Alyssa Milano, Leonardo DiCaprio, Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Reynolds, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Jason Momoa, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Marisa Tomei, Joaquin Phoenix, Jane Fonda, Don Cheadle, Ed Helms, Cher, Chelsea Handler, Ava DuVernay and Amy Schumer. Reportedly newly-engaged couple Aaron Rodgers and Shailene Woodley signed alongside a slew of other big names in Hollywood. The latter of the two was previously arrested during a protest at the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016.

It's clear that they just want to remove the cheapest possible transportation option for oil.

How about shut off the pipelines that supply Natural Gas, Gasoline, Heating Oil and Water to these idiotic Bolsheviks?
Things might get a bit dicey when the lights go out because there is no gas coming out of the pipelines feeding the generating stations.

Killing of more clean pipelines proves yet again how their “science” works. Hint, it’s not real science, but rather “feelings.”

God help this country.

Well obviously the hollywood intelligentsia has thought all this through. They are going to have Robert Downey, Jr. and Mark Ruffalo get into character as Tony Stark and David Banner who will put their genius minds together to create a self-sustainable alternate form of clean green energy which will be manufactured by our allied "competitor" China.

Why do you guys make things so complicated?

I haven't read the FERC permit but I can assume from reading other FERC permits there is not an executive provision in the permit for the president to nix the permit if DAPL is in complicate with the Ts&Cs of the permit.

Compared to the Keystone XL permit there was a provision in the international border crossing permit between the U.S. and Canada were the president had the authority to rescind the permit for no reason whatsoever.

The Dakota Access Pipeline is NOT an international pipeline. It's all in the U.S. So it's not like the Keystone Pipeline from that important perspective.

However there is one section of the pipeline that draws a lot of attention and I'm sure that small section is under a federal government COE permit. It's this 1094 foot section:

Again this section of pipeline is getting a lot of attention because of the body of water it crosses. I'm also sure that the existing permit for this water crossing does not have a termination provision at any presidents' whim.

If Biden tried to shut DAPL down I think DAPL does have a very strong case in court to shut Biden down. Outside of court all bets are off.

You might create jobs in TX and LA, but you would lose them in ND and in states the refineries the DAP serves. And unlike Keystone XL, the DAP is already built. So the thought of this is stupid.

All I am saying is that if you have truck nuts in LA or TX, this helps you.

Biden’s policies are creating winners and losers, just like Trump’s.

As one example, Trump’s pro coal policy hurt natural gas producers. Nothing is simple in these markets.

Much of Keystone is built too except for the last expansion section. The issue with Keystone is the international crossing and the termination language in the crossing permit that says this:

quote:

This permit may be terminated, revoked, or amended at any time at the sole discretion of the President, with or without advice provided by any executive department or agency (agency).

LINK

This is why Keystone was so easy for Biden to kill. It's my understanding DAPL does not have this termination provision.

The left hates big oil as much as they hate trump. They seem to not understand that big oil employees millions of Americans. Many of these oil related jobs pay extremely well yet our liberal friends really are trying to put the oil companies out of business. It’s all about the environment.Isn’t it crazy that America elected a president who eliminates jobs rather than create them.

Not at all.

Low natural gas prices hurt coal. Trump couldn't deregulate coal enough to compete with natural gas.

We are in a natural gas glut. Especially out in West Texas in the Eagle Ford Shale. I've heard some guys that can't get their natural gas to market so they set up natural gas generators to run server farms that mine bitcoin.
