I thought the populace was supposed to rise up? Looks like that was never in the cards.

Shh. Some people still believe.

They still believe what a bunch of Neocons on Fox News told them, that the Iranians all wanted their Islamic theocracy overthrown and all they were waiting for was for the Israeli and American militaries to start bombing them.

Just take over kharg island, forcible open the strait, and profit from all the oil and tell iran to f off. They can do nothing about it and neither can anyone else. Now you control Venezuelan oil, iran oil, and the US supply. Congrats china, russia, eu, etc we now run the entire world.

This is a massive oversimplification of the situation. You cannot control the country with targeted airstrikes.

I'm guessing we can take the island and some real estate along the strait without much difficulty, but holding it is another story. I think we are going to try something like that this weekend.

Or...

Leave and declare victory without accomplishing any of our strategic objectives and emboldening Iran and its terrorist allies.

I suspect we will do this.

This is how it was always going to be without going all in...meaning massive troops on the ground and lots of bloodshed...which holds an uncertain outcome in an uncertain length of time and the American people would never support.

Some people got in Trump's ear and sold him a false bag of goods. And he bought it.

Kharg Island takeover would result in a lot of dead Iranians and Americans and it would jolt the economy like a right hook to the head.

It would draw us further into this war. Again, to what end? Unless you're willing to have massive escalation, why?

Yep. I understand not wanting to go full send, but I don't think we have any other option other than full on invasion and regime change at this point. The Iran regime isn't backing down from it's control over the straight and we cannot walk away and expect the problem in the straight to be over. Iranian regime has to go by any means necessary. May as well rip the band-aid off now before oil prices are $10 a gallon and food prices go up 50%

It going to be the worst Easter Sunday in the 250 year history of our country if we lose soldiers in Iran.

What was it, like three days ago that you were whining about Trump saying he was going to pull out of Iran and leave the Strait of Hormuz to Europe?

And then you appealed to ridicule when I told you (and those like you) to make up your fricking mind.

Well...

What do you think we should do? You're one of the only opinions on this I won't mock because you've been consistent in your beliefs unlike most of the flip-floppers here.

You cannot kill an ideology. It's been ingrained in their culture for centuries, and their hatred for everything Israel, including their very existence, ensures that we will never "win" or be done with Iran. Period.

That’s not completely true. The 1979 revolution was led by a minority group of radicals. The pre-revolution populace of Iran was predominantly Persian culture and pro-western.

Give me a break. If you’re even keeping up with individuals to that extent, then you’re a bit frickin weird. I surmise that you couldn’t even scratch out a short list of people of that particular description.
