Right before the election, they pull him, so they can justify just sticking Newsome in.

No need to announce because he’s running again.
Should the unthinkable happen, being Biden is held accountable for his crimes, the Democrats have Newsom ready to come in and take over.

Yeah. It's not like they didn't practically hide him in a basement for the entire 2020 campaign and he still "won". If they can manage to knock Trump off the right state ballots, they've already won. And as far as the people who really run this country care, he could be a corpse propped up in a chair with sunglasses, weekend at Bernie's style.

I would think that the news to early that he’s not going to run again is worse. People have no faith already and it would be a health or legal issue that would have him forgo running. This would put immediate pressure on WH and give opposition a big boost. Newsome has issues himself but may try because it’s somehow expected if him.

I thought about this. I think it’s likely because they’re afraid of actually having to take RFK seriously. Right now they can dismiss him because Biden is the sitting president but if he announces he’s not running they open the door to have an actual primary which scares them to death.
