I believe this is just Trump creating leverage for a deal he likes, BUT if the US really takes control of Gaza...Israelis should NOT be allowed to settle there.

Sometimes when you have kids who are fighting and won’t listen to you when you say stop, you have to say or do something outlandish to get their attention and break them out of the conflict they established. I think much of what Trump does is in this vein. He makes an outrageous (at least when taken literally) proposal and heads explode. Then the involved parties look at each other and say “that’s ridiculous, we can’t let that happen” and then start working to solve the real problem. In the end the solution is about what he really wanted in the first place, but knew if he was the one saying it first it would be rejected.
