Herd Immunity was already working before the vaccine.

So let me ask you a question. If 99 percent of the population got the vaccine and you didn't, that wouldn't help you?

Wouldn’t that depend on how you perceive the threat from Covid?

If I couldn’t give a frick if I got the virus or not, you getting the vaccine is inconsequential to me.

Sure. And the virus was killing a lot more people along the way. The vaccines have expedited herd immunity and reduced the death toll.

If you disagree with either of those 2 statements you simply don't live in reality.

If a person has already had Covid, what additional benefit to themselves or society is the vaccine?

How you perceive it has no effect on how it would affect you (and that cuts both ways obviously)

There’s a huge overlap in the subsets of those who had Covid and those who have been vaccinated for Covid.

If you add in the fact that a chunk of the population won’t ever get Covid, it’s hard to pin down the overall benefit of the vaccine in our current position.

And to top it all off, I believe the Covid mortality numbers from October to January were a caricature of gaslighting.

Probably not much

But oddly some COVID longhaulers (which is rare) have seen some improvements after taking the vaccine

Zero

I'm not sure what the "society" reference means

You’re assuming my perception isn’t consistent with reality. If you’re under 65, aren’t substantially immunocompromised or very obese, Covid is a bad flu. For many it’s actually less severe than the flu, though we’re talking about probabilities that don’t matter much for both viruses.

You can argue I’m benefitting by you being vaccinated because you might save me from a 3-day head cold, but aren’t you suggesting a bigger benefit than that?

Your perception is merely a risk analysis. It can't factor in anomalies. You have no idea how it would affect you. But you can come up with a reasonable probabilistic risk analysis on which to make a decision.

Of course they are working. Tremendous medical accomplishment. Probably the most successful vaccine rollout in history.

The argument is for mass immunity eliminating community spread. We are getting there.

I just wonder what the long term affect is going to be from the experimental drugs.

I can't help but think about the movie "I am Legend"

It really bothers me now that it came out that the CCP scientist have fully infiltrated our pharmaceutical companies and their labs and the academia labs. It seems like a great way to beat a powerful empire.

I havent seen or heard anyone argue that they dont work. People have concerns over side affects and lack of long term testing, but no one argues that it doesnt work against covid.

I'm not sure where you are getting this, but your thread feels like a strawman.

People are certainly getting awfully argumentative over the issue if you contend that they agree that it works
