And it presents a relatively even fight between Cleo Fields and Troy Carter for the 2nd District. Some of Orleans Parish would go into Steve Scalise’s 1st District, and that would give Fields a fighting chance – if not better than a fighting chance – at beating him. But in none of those races would you see a truly clear favorite, such that the others would or should decline to run. Though Fields says he won’t run against Carter. Believe what Cleo Fields says if you want. Anyway, we just thought this looks like Landry is trying to generate as much competition as possible – assuming he has anything to do with these maps, which everyone seems to.

Cleo Fields ain’t beating Scalise.

But I guarantee Cleo would move to New Orleans to try. Getting elected to something is the only shot Cleo has of holding gainful employment outside of working for his brother.

No. Cleo carries weight with the Dems in this state but not enough for them to cut a sure thing like Carter for someone whose main political accomplishments have been to win districts so specifically gerrymandered for him that they were ruled unconstitutional.

Cleo Fields ain’t beating Scalise.

I read that differently. I think its saying that because some of Troy Carter’s district is going to Scalise, Fields would have a better chance of beating Carter, who lost some of his constituents to Scalise.

Cleo and Carter would likely follow whatever the Louisiana Democratic Party agrees to. And I think it would be Carter.

Cleo for Governor? Those bribes aren't going to take themselves.

He already said he wouldn’t run against Carter.

I bet they had an agreement.

The agreement was the previous map that forced Graves out and gave Cleo his district.

Landry had a vendetta against Graves and was willing to make deals with Democrats like Fields to get him out.

I'd like to again note this redistricting is bullshite and the current districts are absolutely drawn on the basis of race. This could well result in Louisiana’s entire House delegation being declared invalid.

Good they should’ve gone with map 116 and given us a 6-0 republican map. And for those saying it made a district or two purple. They’re wrong because past voting is a mirage.
There are tens of thousands in Nola area who haven’t voted in decades or ever because they knew it would go to a democrat. They’d be chomping at the bit to finally have a chance for representation they choose

Great point!

It was just an excuse because they didn’t want competition for their current districts. Like I said in the other thread. I hope it goes back to the courts.
