OK then. Do you want to vote on a constitutional amendment every time you want to remove a crime from this list?

There's no good way to slice it. This is stupid

Can be tried as adult =/= must

In fact the current Constitution doesn't say they must be which means anything that's currently on list that you don't want to include anymore you actually can legislate. You guys are making a mountain out of a molehill

Yep, stupid. This is the same kind of thinking that keeps earmarks on Alabama's budgeting process and makes it to where the legislature can't address changing needs quickly.

How did the other amendments do?

They all got crushed,

Orleans voted 91% against the amendments
Jefferson voted 67% against the amendments
EBaton Rouge 75% against the amendments
Landry's home parish of St. Martin 51% against amendment 2
St Tammy voted against #3

Because we don’t need anymore amendments added to this state.
One of the low IQ issues holding this State back.

What in the actual frick are you talking about?

Nobody in here has told me that there's something they wish was on the list that isn't currently on the list. And the legislature already has the ability to effectively take something off the list by just saying they're not going to use it. The only question I asked at the very beginning of this entire discussion was for someone to tell me what we were going to accomplish by passing the bill?

First somebody said that you want to have to do an amendment every time we want to add something? To which my response was what do you want to add or what could you even foresee wanting to add

Then somebody incorrectly responded that we would have to pass in a minute every time we wanted to take something off. But that's not true because the current language doesn't force you to try people as adults it just tells you in which situations you can

So about the best any of you have had is to get really mad and call names. What your responses have to do with fricking Alabama budgeting must require a Stretch Armstrong mental gymnastics

Needing very specific information before you can identify a problem does not paint you in a good light.

No one can even spell out the problem! You just all expect us to just accept it as existing.

If there's nothing you want to add to the list or can even foresee wanting to add to the list then you literally have no problem. You don't get to just scream there's a problem without supporting it and expect everybody else to just go yo you're right!

Not to mention legislatures can be notoriously emotional. Since all of the biggies are already on the list throwing it in the hands of the legislature to add whatever might come to mind might not turn out nearly as well as you think. Remember just because the people you like might be in charge now doesn't mean they'll be the ones in charge tomorrow. You might like that restricted list all of a sudden

Bottom line is you have a good list already. You can't even think something you want to add to it. And left to their own devices the legislature could really frick it up and add stuff you would never want added especially if they happen to be a legislature that turned against you. Did the Biden administrations approach to Justice teach you nothing?

I need to know more. It says there's already a list of crimes that you can be charged as an adult for. So what is the supposed benefit of this new Amendment? Are there crimes not currently on the list that we wish were? If so what are they

I’ll go there. They want to charge that 13 year old as an adult who took that abortion pill (where her mom and the doctor in New York got charged)

Everything else that would make sense to charge a minor as an adult is already spelled out in the Constitution

But no one was talking about this before Saturday
