“After a few weeks of lying dormant, Trumpcare is back and it's meaner than ever,” augured Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., contended the latest Republican effort to fell ObamaCare didn’t catch Democrats by surprise.

“I think they like the fact that people are paying attention to hurricanes and earthquakes and DACA and this and that and that they might be able to sneak this by,” said Pelosi.

Democrats are now ringing the klaxons in preparation for what could be the conclusive ObamaCare fight. Then again, we’ve heard that before.

It takes 60 votes to break filibusters in the Senate. There certainly aren’t the votes to get anywhere near 60 on this legislation. So the GOP is using a special process called “budget reconciliation” which neuters filibusters and requires a simple majority to approve bills. Here’s the problem: the budget reconciliation measure for health care expires at 11:59:59 p.m. ET Sept. 30.

But in reality, the operational deadline is late Sept. 28 – or at the very latest, the early hours of Sept. 29.

Yom Kippur is the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. It begins at sundown on Sept. 29 – 6:53 p.m. ET on Friday. Jewish senators want to be home for synagogue and prayer. Yom Kippur ends an hour after sundown on Sept. 30 – around 7:51 p.m. ET. That leaves a narrow window after the holiday before the budget reconciliation opportunity for health care expires. This is why it’s likely this must be settled on Sept. 28 or, at the latest, early the next day. However, more than one Senate source noted to Fox News that the Senate voted on Christmas Eve morning to approve the first version of ObamaCare in 2009.

Why Democrats are really frightened is that they know Obamacare is a colossal failure and don't want anything remotely good to change with it, lest the GOP get credit going into the 2018 elections.

Actually, folks are frightened about what this particular proposal will do to millions of people. Why are the Republicans hell bent on promoting healthcare legislation which won't improve healthcare or people's lives?

So... the future of American healthcare is second fiddle to any one religious holiday

Do you really think any of them R or D care about anything but their lobbyist monies and slush funds? ObamaCare is a unsustainable beast passed in the middle of the night.

It can't be undone in one bill because they all have spent their lobbyist monies. So baby steps is all we are left with.

Don't know why this matters. There are no Jewish Republican senators. There are 9 Jewish senators...all Democrats.

Dianne Feinstein
Ron Wyden
Chuck Schumer
Ben Cardin
Bernie Sanders (I but votes Dem)
Michael Bennet
Al Franken
Richard Blumenthal
Brian Schatz

The Rs don't need their votes.

Negative.
This bill is a health insurance regulation bill. It won't do squat to millions of people. It will however move us off the single-payer paradigm and away from commycare.

Very amazing that people with half a brain still believe that.

Not the point, though. Democrats want to be able to go on record as voting against the bill so they can use it in their re-election campaign ads to prove how progressive they are to their left-wing constituents.

As I have agreed with my last post. So those that don't vote for it are strapping us with commiecare, single payer.

They just lost McCain and Paul is a no. What about the others two?

Repeal scares Dems because opening the door to rolling back any of the big government, creeping socialism programs is a no-no.

Yeah, however if they delay the vote in the senate to the point of conflicting with their religious holiday they are just going to have to make a choice, either show up for the vote and miss a little bit of your religious holiday or don't show and just go uncounted. The only reason this should be an issue is if McConnell is trying to be nice. Other than that it's really not an issue.

Millions of people were negatively affected by Obamacare. Hint. They didn't save $2500.

Eventually, yes. Here's the problem with leftist handouts...if you take away from those that have been given to you can cry foul.

Nevermind those that have given to provide for the takers. They aren't important. Just look at the discourse here.

How many do they need from the 4? Just 1 with Pence's vote?

CNN couldn't wait in saying it's over...

quote:

McCain was one of three most-watched members on the fence and considered a key vote on the bill. Without his support, Republicans would need to get Sen. Lisa Murkowski, a Republican from Alaska, as well as Collins to sign on.

It's unlikely considering the fact that Collins said Friday afternoon that she was leaning against the bill and had key concerns that the legislation did not do enough to protect individuals with pre-existing conditions.

"I'm leaning against the bill," Collins said Friday at a Portland, Maine, event, according to The Portland Press Herald.

Paul, the only other Republican other than McCain who has so far definitively come out against Graham-Cassidy, is "unlikely" to change his mind even if changes are made to the bill, his spokesman Sergio Gor told CNN.

You didn't seem to care when millions of folks lost their coverage because of Obamacare.
