Why is Trump so popular in India?

Is it simply because he's shown them more love than any US president ever or is the culture just naturally drawn to him?
I don't know anything about the Indian populous, but it would seem that just verbal praise alone wouldn't garner that kind of outpouring.
P.S. I have wondered for years why didnt become closer to India. They're the anti China. They're the largest democratic, free market country in the world and have massive cheap labor.
The counter to having all our chit made In China is India. The infrastructure is lacking, but why dont more countries invest with them?

He is popular with Indians here.
I am friends with some that came over from India. Father was a doctor in India. He and the son own 3-4 hotels, a couple convenience stores, several chain restaurants, and an insurance agency (Indians are big on insurance).
They are huge Trump fans. The son I know is now a citizen. He wouldn't think of voting for a Democrat. He says almost all his Indian friends are Trump supporters.

Indians tend to be hard working people who strive to be successful. Not a mystery why they would be drawn to Trump.

India doesn't have a free market economy. Also, my guess is b/c Trump and Modi are two of a kind. Modi is anti-immigrant as well with his push to take citizenship away from folks who fall outside of Hinduvata philosophy.
