Yea some people can’t recognize bad policy and decisions.
We have spent years saying China is the enemy and they have proved that. There is no good spin to allowing the enemy in and educating them. They have a history of being spies and stealing all IP.
It’s like me deciding that I should let venomous snakes in my house for some reason and feed them

Here is the point that a vast majority of people miss on this. The US pool of eligible 18-25 year old students shrunk dramatically in the last 3 years. This has caused huge drops in enrollments at many schools and without students you are now looking at potential shutdowns of university campuses across the country.
Normally, I would say let the free market decide who wins and looses, but universities do much more than just provide “useless” degrees. They are the economic driver for many regional economies and smaller towns across the country. They are fixed assets that are something states cannot easily divest from. They are one the major advantages the US on the rest of the globe regarding small scale research and entrepreneurial development.
The simple solution is bring in more Chinese students to balance out the massive reduction we have seen in Indian students. Chinese students are much less likely to get swooped up into the H1B racket and very simply going to be much easier to control.
On top of that, international students pay heightened tuition and have a much more rigid expectations of conduct than those from other countries.
Would I prefer to pack these schools with US students, absolutely. Those students don’t exist right now in the US population. So either dumb down college more and see people complain that student have worthless degrees that they can’t pay off because we need then in the student population, let colleges fail knowing that they are generally a 50+ year investment to become revenue neutral, lift the restrictions from India and other less desirable (and Muslim heavily influenced) regions or bring in Chinese students.
Now it doesn’t seem so black and white does it?

So again.. how is this going to ruin and destroy the OP's personal life? I didn't see him on here bitching and moaning about how Kamala and Joe Biden allowed 10-20 million freeloading pieces of garbage from 3rd world countries into our country while paying them tens of thousands of dollars each

Absolutely incorrect and foolish to trust numbers from those with agendas.
Of course schools want to say they need foreigners it’s more money for them.
Let’s live in pretend world and trust the numbers, if they are correct would it seem better to go get students from friendly countries to fill that slot? It doesn’t make a lot of sense to go get our enemies first. We have spent decades seeing China steal shite through student visas and we have had people on both sides of the isle call them an enemy. So if they are we shouldn’t be inviting them in.
This isn’t an America first policy. It’s a nod to tech bros at best and just down right stupid and dangerous to continue to let China take spots in key security issues, which IT security and infrastructure are damn sure industries we need to not fail.
Do you remember the supply issues during Covid. Most of which caused by us outsourcing key manufacturing and our just in time supply chain. Now we have begun to fix that but we are going to risk giving China the ability to shut our grid down from the inside.
Also I don’t buy that the Chinese are so damn smart. If they were so smart they should have been able to improve all the damn tech and secrets they stole but they have what two air craft carriers and they don’t produce one thing that is better than the original.

In a way, yes. We all know the U.S. helped build the Chinese middle class (we all contributed to it). But what did we get in return? They send their richest and smartest children to be educated at our universities, and those students then bring Western liberal and progressive values back to China. It's a real problem for them.

I can’t speak to the OP so I don’t know if he complained about sleepy Joe.
You know it is possible to say what Joe and Kamala did was bullshite and hate it and also say this is a dumb policy as well.
So Trump is fixing the shite Biden caused but he just invited 500k enemies in and at higher positions not just picking vegetables.
In the world it is possible that Trump is still better than Kamala but that doing this isn’t MAGA at all.
As far as making life worse, the way it makes life worse is now OPs kids have some foreign enemy depressing their wages and they live with him longer so that probably sucks. Then you have the long term impact of China stealing secrets, controlling farm land and now China nationalist can work there way into key security areas. I’d say our grid going down from sabotage from a foreign national would be bad

It's 500,000 people out of 350 million. You have no idea the deal and reason why this deal was made.
Your kids have a better chance of winning the lottery than being affected by this

Exactly. How people still get snookered by headlines at this damn stage in the game is beyond me.

Allowing Chinese students in prevents tenuous relationships from becoming worse. The biggest Japaese opponents of pearl harbor were folks who actually visited and lived in America. Chinese that come here are free to learn about tianemen Square, etc.
Now with the issue of ai, I'm curious to the effect on stem demand. We have folks like nVidia founder saying trades will be more important.

500,000 from a country that has stolen more national secrets and IP than everyone else combined and continues to do it all the time.
You can’t say you are Making America Great Again and restoring the American dream and then displace those same youth. Even if we pretend that Americans now don’t even want to do stem which is a silly Vivek position, there are better countries to pull from.
Plus the 350MM is too high of a number you are adding 500k into a much smaller pool of kids in college. It’s not 15-20MM criminals like Biden but it’s 500k enemy criminals actually being educated by us to eventually frick us.
It’s ok to admit not everything is 7-d chess or is good.
I want more MAGA things and less of this. The farm land is also a big deal. No foreigner should be able to own American land.

The US is short over a million engineering vacancies per year because our dumbed down education system can’t compete currently.
Why do people think this?
America is #1 in the world when it comes to higher education. That's not my opinion, it's a fact.
We have more top 10, top 50, and top 100 universities than any other country in the world.
Lower education not so much, but IMO that's because we have such a diverse population and we fund lower education locally, which means the quality of the schools varies greatly and the curriculums are much less standard than most other comparable countries.
Back to higher education, quality of institutions also varies fairly widely, but we have plenty of global-leading universities to produce enough engineers.
The problem is that in a couple of fields there are not enough graduates (civil engineering and electrical engineering), but that's not a function of having the universities to produce them, it's a function of not enough students choosing those fields, but even more contributory is the fact that management is only willing to hire mid or senior level candidates. They aren't willing to let new graduates learn on the job anymore, like they did in the 70s, 80s, 90s, etc.
I don't know enough about it to know whether that's a justified strategy or not, but that's the big bottleneck, not having too few universities to teach students engineering.

You guys all knew he had a business first agenda. If he thinks he’s making a deal, he’ll do it.
Also, he acts on a whim, doesn’t think things through and is not very smart. Oh and picks incompetent people for his cabinet.

True. And Biden could be wrong and Trump right at the same time as well. And vice versa, technically I guess.

I despise the left and have fought them my whole life.
Trump has become the left, in case you haven't noticed. He has betrayed every one of his campaign promises.
He said no wars and but then got us involved in yet another endless middle eastern war for Israel.
He said China was our greatest threat and then bends over for them in front of the whole world. Watchign Xi humiliate him (and us as an extension) was stomach turning.
Giving away our kids future college prospects and giving to chinese scum.
He was tough on illegal immigration briefly but then backed off when the corporate farms and service industry demanded more illegals for cheap labor.
He is floating giving amnesty again. Cause you know, its just good for business.
Just how many times will he betray you and what you believe before you stop supporting him?
