re: Why is Texas so eager to execute an insane person?

He'll be treated, educated on his legal rights (restored to competency), tried and convicted. He'll probably get the DP too.
Treatment does not mean insanity or legally not responsible. If he's malingering (faking) the experts will know. It's not hard to figure it out.

Cannot be cured.
Cannot be rehabilitated.
Has nothing to offer society.
Doesn't even know it is going to happen.
May as well end him.

All told, the death penalty is more expensive.

Cheaper to knock him in the head and get it over with. If he doesn't know who he is then he shouldn't understand what's going on. Who wants to feed and clothe somebody like that.

Death penalty cases cost the taxpayers more than life imprisonment when it's all said and done. The appeals process will never be eliminated or substantially reduced even with a conservative Congress or Supreme Court. So, the idea that the death penalty saves money is a pipe dream.

Texas likes to kill people.

What the hell are you talking about?

That statistic only includes court costs and attorney costs.
Doesn't including housing costs.

I know all about RRR. What the hell does that have to do with ME? I blame Bill Clinton virtually above all others for the current over-the-top "law and order" infrastructure we are stuck with.

After killing a man in a nightclub he at first agreed to turn himself in to authorities
Sounds like he knew murder was wrong.
He was entirely mentally fit when he committed his crimes.

Sorry, didn't see it was a different person. It was a true non-sequitur by whoever that other poster is.

Because we're Texas, it's just what we do.

Oh so now you're pro death penalty? Two posts ago you were against it.
