Look no further than Ascension Parish politics.

Back when Martinez was the parish prez in the late 90's. His good buddy Juba Diez was the Transportation Committee Chairman of the DOTD.

Martinez proposed several plans to widen HWYs 30, 431, 42, 73 and build new interstate exchanges.

Martinez lost in 98 (I think) to Harold Marchand. Martinez was confident he would be re-elected. So good ole Juba held out on funding any road improvements in AP until what they thought would be Martinez's return.

Politicians would rather frick over the people they serve than to make those same peoples' lives better.

Fast forward to Aaron Lawler and Terri Casso colluding to hide F rated road surveys until Casso got approval to sell/ develop land on Daigle road near 42.

The backstabbing of the Council Clique to oust Cointment from the drainage board when Clint was shaming their asses for sitting in seats and doing nothing to help relieve flooding. Same jackassess fought him over the moratorium on building developments.

The next Governor will most assuredly be a Republican

I wish I shared your confidence. The slate of announced candidates is less than inspiring. The only positive is Fat Billy staying out. A prime example of a Louisiana RINO. If you think John Alario is a Republican then you are part of the problem.

In answer to the OP, it’s been the election of criminals only interested in enriching themselves for many years, now it’s almost solely Demographics, and given the financial incentives for increased breeding, it will continue to get worse.

Why? Some of the finest young people want to leave the state for more opportunities

The reasons to live in or even visit Louisiana seem to grow fewer by the day for me

Very little vision for the future. The state is overrun with morons and nimby's who will never allow it to prosper like it could.

The weather, climate and water are perpetually an issue. If you move just about anywhere else, that becomes one less issue.

It flood in the northeast and in the Midwest. Everywhere along the gulf gets hit by hurricanes, including Texas.

West coast has mudslides, fires, droughts, earthquakes and an abundance of homeless people that throw trash everywhere.

Other places have blizzards where you freeze to death in your car.

So moving somewhere else gives you a whole host of other climate issues.

Or like living in the desert, there is no water, which you need to fricking live.

Because many of our native citizens don’t know the difference between worse and worst.

"Worse" is perfectly acceptable here.

If I said "Louisiana is one of the better states," it would make sense and be grammatically correct.

Better and worse - both comparative.
Best and worst - both superlative.
