So we both agree the job is easy enough for anyone off the street to do the job well.

Uh, no we don't agree. It's not easy for the cops because they are restricted in doing their job. The good ole boys, yeah, it would be an easy job for them because shooting shite is what they love to do.

And this is what we’re up against. Brainwashed, idiotic, pathetic

They should Strike nationwide . Starting with 9-11 dispatch. 7 days. Announce that no more rape kits will be processed because they are numerically biased against black Americans. They should call it A Week of Racial Reflection and say they just want to start a conversation about their role in systemic racism. And just walk out.

The amount of actual lunacy in this thread is frightening because I assume these folks vote. Are there bad police officers? Of course there are. Is the job easy? Not at all. These statistics you use to make a point actually support the opposite. However, this is what we as a society have devolved to. We can’t have a rational discussion on how to make it better, rather it’s just a screaming match between two toddlers. I’m old enough and secure enough financially to really be able to avoid and ignore all the rhetoric, I don’t because I want a better nation for my grandchildren. What is happening now is disgusting.

How are they restricted exactly? Your average baw doesn't have legal protection from prosecution based on performing their duties.

Seems less restricted than the public would be.

I'm willing to concerns that sometimes they do have rough days at work. And yes it can end in death. Although that is very rare.

But not at all? You have no idea how much of the job is sitting around in your cruiser or filling out paperwork.

Thank you for providing the tone deaf and out of touch response.

When Baltimore turned on the police they stopped going into certain parts of the city and stopped patrolling those areas. Those same communities ultimately begged them to come back.

Yep. Let them eat their own.
Then they’ll beg for police patrols.

They cannot strike, but they can get sick.

What does necessary paperwork and downtime have to do with the danger of a job? You know skydiving last just a few seconds. Most of it is preparing. Is skydiving dangerous or risky?

See, this is exactly what I’m talking about. You don’t know me, you know nothing of my life experiences, yet you tell me “I have no idea....” you’re wrong. I know very well that there are hours of mindless nothing, that does not equal easy. It is a difficult job. To say otherwise is ignorant.

Statistically both of these are pretty safe. I mean you can do them daily for a career and only have a very small percentage chance of something going bad that isn't your fault(such as not buckling up or prepping gear wrong).

Also in both cases you decided of your own free will to add a little additional risk of something bad happening for a return of utility(money or excitement).

If it was actually dangerous or required a specific skill set you'd see much higher recruiting standards as well as pay.

You’re right. Dangerous is relative. We should rely on statistics.

Speaking of statistics....How many unarmed black men were shot last year by these horrible police officers that do nothing?

Oh the hardships of doing nothing or filling out forms.

What you mean to say is criminals would quickly learn that the police function is the only thing keeping them alive.

How does that matter to police striking

We're using statistics now?

Statistically, it is far more dangerous for a police officer to interact with a black criminal than it is for a black criminal to interact with a police officer.

Probably because they are being targeted and they are dealing with daily riots based on a false narrative?
