They are using DEI for coaches and referees now.

DEI isn't about equality, it's about anti-white (and to a lesser extent anti-Asian) and pro-black (and to a much lesser extent Hispanic/ Native American). So, DEI would be fine with pro sports, except maybe the NHL.

If I had to guess, MLB is probably closest to matching the demographics of the general population of the USA.

It does. It's why every nfl season... you see virtue signaling shite like "END RACISM" scattered around, either on the field or on the helmets of players. It's why there're female referees now.


Women are free to try out for the NBA and NFL.. it's just most don't dare to, because they know even a bottom of the barrel nfl or nba player is better than a top notch female basketball or football player.
