Well here it gets complex because a lot of future votes for them get snuffed out BUT the libs' desire to accommodate certain lurid behaviors by removing the potential consequences for those behaviors trumps the expectation of a certain percentage of future voters.
Notice in my take not once did I mention anything about right vs wrong and morality. The left's political calculations are made solely on the level of self-serving interests. THAT is what they care about...bottom line.

Well I’m not sure they really do (I don’t). I’m probably more amiable than most on this board to immigration policies but I’m in no way advocating for open borders or whatever the OP believes about the left.
I was a supporter of the 2014 bill that died, thought it was a reasonable compromise that included cleaning out the backlog, increasing border security, among other things. It’s an issue that’s become hyper polarized, which is too bad. Makes longer term solutions much harder to come by.

Cloward Piven strategy. The idea is to overwhelm the welfare state so that the government collapses to make room for an authoritarian communist regime. If when you see Democrat politicians, while proposing some lavish spending proposals with no means of paying for them, you wonder how they could ever believe we can afford it, the truth is, they don’t. We’re not supposed to afford it. Their goal is to destroy this nation as it is so they can be in charge of rebuilding it the way they want it. America, its capitalist economy, and its constitution must be destroyed, its people enslaved or replaced, to make way for a single planetary communist government. All of these folks in the media, the SJWs, community organizers, etc all go along with it because they believe they will be part of the ruling class. In reality, they will be in the second set of mass graves after the mob topples the old guard.

Agreed in principle, but not sure of specifics after that. What is the plan to have them be able to vote in federal elections?
The Left truly believes they will win the WH again at some point, and when that happens, amnesty and open borders will likely happen by the simple stroke of the pen.
And once it happens, it can never be reversed. Turned off again, sure. But the damage will already be done.
There's in reality easily more than 30 million illegals in the US. And quite possibly even over 40 million. And probably at least 70% would instantly become Democrat voters. Probably a good bit more, actually.
Not only would this flip several big red states blue, but it would change the whole landscape of House representation to be very Dem lopsided.
Dems would have super-majorities and the Presidency and not a worry in the world of losing it.

I am a liberal and I do not want open borders. I have never heard anyone of consequence actually support this. I am for a reasonable immigration policy. I am also for enhanced border security, but not a wall. For those non-documented immigrants already here who can verify that they can support themselves or have someone who will guarantee their support, an accelerated path to permanent resident status makes sense to me. Not citizenship, but permanent resident status.
But, the real question we should be asking is why isn't there more emphasis on making "E-Verify" mandatory for all employers. This would eliminate all but "cash under the table" employment and would bring in additional federal, state and payroll taxes.
Explain to me why "E-Verify" for all isn't the first step?

I believe it's just one step in pushing for a North American Union, based on the European Union model. Change enough of the demographics of a nation and that nation loses its identity. Without its identity, it becomes easier to "blend" countries together.

But at the same time endeavor to pull out all the stops on aborting those same babies. I agree with some sentiment in the thread as to the left not thinking it all out out, the many related aspects.
