I think Trump hates to lose above all else.
You hear certain sports figures talk this way. Kind of a similar trait as Tom Brady or Nick Saban. They hate to lose more than they love to win.
I believe Trump thinks this way about his legacy in the future. He doesn't want people alive now or people not yet born to think of him as a "loser" who was defeated by the ingrained powers-that-be.

Trump would fall in that category as well, though his ego is definitely a driving factor as well.
I agree with your assessment except that I think ego is not specific to Trump. Everyone who displays this kind of drive has a strong ego. Reagan and Rush both had strong ego drives.
And it's not just TV stars and politicians. Why do businessmen who make a billion dollars want to work so hard to make 10 billion dollars? And a lot of them never have the goal to stop and retire. They do it until they die.
I also wonder about great military leaders in ancient history. I've been into that a lot in the last year and they keep conquering for no apparent reason except that they love conquering.

Same reason Sam and John Adams, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson did it.

I agree, but he is a patriot and loves the USA.
And he is willing to do what it takes, to keep it.
AMERICA FIRST!....thats what drives him.

He was and is of the opinion that if you want a job done right, you gotta do it yourself.

One thing he may also be after, besides love of country is Revenge. He believes strongly in it, to right a slight by hitting back harder. He is patient in this regard, and I believe Obama is in his crosshairs.

Proving what a great man and Patriot he is.
He believes in and loves the USA unlike most of congress and beaurocrats in DC.

45 has lived the life of a King, at his age he's ready to repay his country, unlike most Democratic & Republican politicians who are being paid off by lobbyist & China. Say what u want bout 45 but he wasn't a crooked politician, just a sensible businessman who put America first. And his best or one of his best achievments was making Jerusalem the capitol of Isreal, an unheard of miracle.

Maybe now, but that wasn’t the case initially. He was surprised by the constant media attacks at first.

And God bless you for those beautiful words, sir. Literally.

Many years ago I read psychological papers on a personality type some have labeled: 'The Insatiable Male'.
Trump displays some of these characteristics. Here is a short description by one psychologist:
robt rausch
Edit: Another guy who fits the description is Rush Limbaugh.
I think the world needs more of these types. As the paper said, these individuals made up a lot of the economic boom after WWII and probably allowed the nuclear family to stay in place (for the most part) as they took pride in vocational achievement and one parent was able to stay home to raise the kids.
For good or bad, the feminist movement brought an uprising of the "Insatiable Female," which, though somewhat admirable in its premise has inadvertently led to a fracture in the stability of the nuclear family and a world of conflicted males who have no clear idea what their roles should be both at work and at home. And for men who largely think logically, it's important that everything make sense or follow some natural order.
Some examples of the Insatiable Female might be Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and many prominent actresses in Hollywood.
In summary, the Insatiable Male, while not entirely possessing of stable characteristics (what personality trait is), is probably more suited for them due to their natural ability to compartmentalize and focus on the success of a singular goal. The rise of the Insatiable Female has created both a fracture in the nuclear family and simultaneously eroded the basic male need for clear understanding of self and role.

I have pondered this myself - and my hope is that he would do just that (or the equivalent)
I'd like to see him bow out of the electoral arena and devote his remaining years and energy towards giving the DEMonCrats hell. Obviously the abuse heaped on him from the political media and tech cabal do not bother him - he seems to thrive on it.
It must be great - knowing that he is absolutely clean on any substantive issue - that all they got are manufactured 'narratives' that can be construed to meet any assembly of actual fact, but they all fall apart as soon as ALL the facts are established.
I honestly don't see how he can be so "clean" - far different that the air-headed rich playboy image of had of him back when he came down the escalator in '15. I have since learned that he was always a sincere patriot at heart - and had the exact set of skills required to knock the shite out of the progstains = NOT A SCENT of actual 'corruption' = the only thing he "could' be accused of is having to play the game according to the rules set it place by the New York DEMOCRAT cabal. I had originally feared that he may be culpable on some front in that arena.
I also thought he could probably be smeared into oblivion by the 'me too' brigade but it seems he has no more liability there than most any rich adult in this day and age, and certainly not as much exposure as most of the progstains after his hide.
In my heart of hearts, I want him to win this next election BIGLY - select a great VP - come into power breathing fire and brimstone on the truly corrupt bureaucracy and all compliant DC pols, for the first two years - retire after the midterms and give his VP (who would be an EXCELLENT not-to-be-denied followup like DeSantis) a shot at an TEN YEAR run as POTUS - leaving office with a 8-1 SCOTUS and an impregnable lock on both House and Senate for the foreseeable future like FDR left the DEMs in total control for a half century.
But - I will be pleased to take marginal control of the House/Senate majorities in Nov.
I hate the progstains with every ounce of my being.

Naw sir, he had to endure Fauci given the circumstances. Trump did exactly what he had to do.
