Because if the world ever goes to crap, I want to have that option to protect my family and I.
Sounds far fetched, but imagine a scenario where something like a major economic collapse happens. Would only take a few days for society to begin to fall apart.
Also, an armed citizenry, with capable weapons, keeps the federal government in check.

Because,after the AR-15s are banned,anybody that doesn't have 1,will be rounded up,a T for traitor,will be branded into their forehead,they will be put into chain gangs, labor camps,used as human shields,or whatever else that anybody sees fit to do with them.
