re: Why do we need to pass bills for spending? It’s so inefficient

We have a behemoth structure around spending for what purpose?
To see to it that each state is properly represented. There's no way that you're actually this stupid.

Who would you give that authority to?
The people or entities that need to spend it. There is a mountainous bureaucracy that is just bloated and in the way. It’s unsustainable to continue the current process.

Hint, appropriating that money is a big step in the process.
This is exactly my point! How fricking ridiculous is the entire process of appropriating in modern spending? It’s a drag on everything. Do away with it!

Represented for what?

In theory, giving the power to Congress is a good thing since they directly represent the people. In reality, they stopped representing us decades ago (at best) and now serve the highest bidders.

Yea you aren’t thinking this through. No matter what words you use, someone somewhere will always have to actually authorize and spend the money. Who decides in your new reality?

Those that need it. Why all the bs middleman stuff?

He’s talking about the generation coming of age right now. They are fricked even though they don’t know it yet. Most millennials are fricked too but the crafty ones will survive

Handing blank checks to unelected piss goblins that are never held accountable.. that WOULD be a more efficient way to bankrupt the nation.
What's missing from our system isn't efficiency, it's not supposed to be efficient. What's missing is honesty, transparency and voters that pay attention and hold the House accountable.

Kinda and also others. Like, say, Ecuador needs $2 Billion for coastal river control. Why the whole red tape fiasco to do that? Just do it.
Thats the problem. Some random frick in State would happily write a $2B check to Equidor. At least now it is some minor hassle to launder American taxpayer money.

It’s outdated.
Scrap the entire political wrangling.
Update the Constitution.
Did it occur to you to check how well that worked under Stalin, Hitler, or Mussolini?

If a President didn't need to go through Congress, he could tax everyone, then just spend the money in the states necessary for his re-election. Basically, CA, TX, NY, and FL would run the entire country. What you're suggesting could never happen. The smaller states would never vote to change the Constitution against their own interests.
Represented for what?

Update the Constitution.
Unfortunately, it already has been "updated" repeatedly -- only to the eventual full detriment of our Nation (see 1862, "Civil War". Then 1871, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Inc.) After that all bets were off.
Recall when an enraged Dubya Bush once reminded a patriot what HE thought of US the Constitution? "Meh. It's just a GD piece of paper".
On BOTH issues of the US status as a "Corporation" (as of 1871), AND Dubya's contempt of the USCON and actual statement, *some* will always deny the inconvenient truths and utter the same thing: "YOU KOOKY CONSPIRACY THEORISTS!!"
Yet...Anyone who has been paying a lick of attention to the American politics (especially since Donald Trump became President AND during his post-re-election hijacking and aftermath) KNOWS with 100% certainty that the US Constitution is a vandalized, subverted, selectively enforced "Piece of Paper" after all.

Congress has to appropriate the money. There’s no way around them having to pass legislation to spend money.
You mean there ARE NO secret Congressional slush funds? NO Black Op budgets? NO Presidential EO decisions that create end-arounds? NO $$-Laundering? NO 10% "Big Guy" negotiations that circumvent Congress?
Oooo-kay.

No, but a 2nd term President could tax everyone at 100% with no oversight if not for Congress. What you arguing for is a single elected dictator with no checks or balances. In fact, your premise is so idiotic that I feel that I'm bring trolled.
