why does it cost...
Because someone knows they can get that much. Same reason health care has exploded. If you have the means to get X dollars, I'm pricing shite as close to X dollars as possible.
Make student loans tougher to get, enrollment goes down, colleges adjust tuition down. Not every college needs gold plated infinity pools in the student center.

The university wants to fill those classes and counsels them to go that route.
My friend's daughter graduated with a forestry degree of all things.
She couldn't find work.. Useless.

Why are they able to charge whatever tf they want for a degree that clearly has no chance of delivering a ROI?
Why do some people act is if salary and employment information is kept top secret until graduation, then suddenly revealed when you get a diploma?

How else would they be able to pay 250k salaries to vibe managers?

Why do car dealerships charge outrageous amounts for vehicles that depreciate as soon as they leave the lot. Should we have to pay for those loans also when they eventually become upside down?

For the same reason that a dog licks his balls.

None of it will change until parents stop shaming their kids who don’t want to go to college into going, and nothing will change until jobs stop making a degree a requirement for employment.

I agree but what I’m saying is the burrower isn’t the only one at fault in this case.

Because just like Unions they are paying retirement benefits long into the future.

Seems like a responsible thinking politician would go after higher education and their high tuition, especially any state schools bilking their own citizenry just to fatten the wallets of some looser lefties professors and administration.
Couch it to the youth and taxpayers that you are fighting for an affordable, quality education. No one holds higher education to any kind of business standard.

Because the loans are backed by the government and they will get their $ no matter what. They have arbitrarily increased tuition at an insane rate due to this. Government student loans are the reason you have to get student loans to afford college ironically. When my dad was in school he worked all summer to pay for his tuition. Impossible to do that nowadays.

Maybe because they CAN, and they have an endless supply of free money that people can take from taxpayers, and never pay back?

Yes, I agree, worthless degrees, yaddy-yadda. True for most. For certain other students, college is a stepping stone to a great career opportunity. My daughter, as an example, treats studying as serious business. She just started her senior year at OU, served an internship at a Dallas based global company this summer, and has already been offered a six-figure job by that company as soon as she graduates, along with a $25k signing bonus, fully paid for health, life and disability insurance, $125 a month phone allowance and they'll fully reimburse her for getting her masters degree while she's working in their financial analytics services group.
A lot has to do with aptitude, attitude and motivation. She worked hard to get where she is, but as we all know, most students do as little as possible to get by, and are more interested in the social part and just being away from Mom and Dad. They don't put in the required effort. These are the kids that would get turned down if a university had to guarantee the loans, itself. My daughter has three roommates sharing their university apartment. Two of them are complete airheads who will take five to six years to graduate. Maybe. If they're lucky. They'd probably have been better off studying cosmetology and learning to dye hair. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But they went to college because their moms wanted them to have the "college experience" and spend time in a sorority. I guess that's one reason to go, but not the right reason. Too many go for the wrong reason and yes, end up with worthless degrees.

Same reasons Dr's & hospitals banked on Covid and why the media are propaganda shills.

Yeah, basic supply and demand. This is from memory but I think when I started GT in the early 80’s out of state tuition was $1,100 per quarter, 3 quarters per calendar year for $3,300 per year. Per an inflation calendar that’s $9k per year for out of state. Out of state for GT now is $45k.

Because people will pay it.
And being able to take out student loans to do so is like people getting credit cards and maxing them out, except they aren’t supposed to be discharged in bankruptcy.
Getting certain degrees from pricy schools is kind of like taking a credit card to the strip club and going to the Champagne Room. You get girls grinding on you and maybe you get your dick played with but you end up overpaying for what you get.
