I don’t follow or understand politics too much and this is not a troll post. I really want to understand why it’s not a better strategy to be a moderate republican candidate than one who panders to MAGA folks. It seems the MAGAs will never vote dem, so you can consider that vote a lock. Why alienate moderates who might vote republican if they had a moderate candidate?

You don't say. Republicans did this shite for about 30 years. All it accomplished is getting us to where we are right now.

You are too focused on winning elections. Better to lose with honor and purity. MAGA 2024 & try again in 2028

Articulate the MAGA platform, please?

Now do the same for “moderate”.

I want to see how lost you are.

The democrat who arty is filled with mental illness, criminals (as is the Republican Party), unlimited spending, high taxes, and pedophiles. How could anyone vote for that

What we need is a milquestoast candidate, young and inoffensive and polished as frick with the teleprompter with well styled hair and indistinguishable in policy from Hillary Clinton

These voters give us the Romneys, Murkowskis, and Cassidys of the world. Might as well vote Dem for all the good a "moderate" Republican does the average working man.

MAGA’s have proven, however, that they are perfectly willing to stay home on Election Day.

Normal Republicans who aren't hard core MAGA types are more pragmatic and will vote for the more conservative option, even if it isn't there first choice. MAGA is more pure and less pragmatic. They see moderates and socialists as similar, so they are fine to stay home if they can't have their 1st choice.

What does that mean? Do you know? Does that mean you are worked up over meaningless social issues like gay marriage or religion in schools? Does it mean you put priority on issues that basically have little wide reaching consequences like a man calling himself a woman? Or that there is some grey middle ground on political horrors like endorsing the butchery of children on a parent's or school teacher's whim?

Does it mean you only kind of care that government spending is creating an economy of the few elite and the many impoverished? Does it mean you don't want war but think there will be no consequences to financing one? Does it mean that you think our consumer culture built on the backs of a hostile communist regime will not have negative consequences or that all those crossing the border illegally should be viewed through a Disney lens rather than the hard reality of the drug trade, human trafficking, disease and terrorism taking the same advantage as innocent migrant workers?

Moderates are the reason we are where we are. Moderates are the reason Trump came to power. Moderates complained about the abuse of power by W. Bush and then helped elect Barrack Obama like it was some kind of alternative. Moderates have been the engine by which the elite have turned our government from a Constitutional republic with checks and balances into a centralized, overpowered cash machine sucking the life out of this country to make a very few wealthy and powerful.

You don't understand why Trump is what he is now. Rewind the world back to 1980, and Donald Trump would have been laughed off a debate stage long before he got near a republican nomination. But through daddy Bush, W. Bush and the countless scheming creatures who have dominated the GOP since Reagan left office, government has grown substantially and the power to check it has gone... all with the help of you moderates who can't decide what you believe in other than you find believing in anything completely is distasteful or makes your social life uncomfortable.

If you hate Trump, just understand you are the reason he is what he is and you are the reason for MAGA.
