This isn't as inconsistent as you think. Trump, as a politician, has always balanced his desire to call things as he sees them (coarsely at times-- which has been both a pro and a con) with his desire to be a deal maker.

He's met with any number of people he's insulted when he thinks there is a project, a deal, an event or any other circumstance for which a meeting might be beneficial to advance his agenda. I don't see a problem with this. Trump can be petty (which is part of his brash charm), but he's capable of being productive when it counts.

Trump claims to still love NYC and opposed Mamdani... OK. Even says he'll cut funding to NYC if Mamdani enacts plans Trump sees as harmful... OK.

So, Mamdani wins and seeks a meeting. If Trump cares about NYC, why wouldn't he at least meet with Mamdani and hear him out? Trump would be a partisan liar if he claimed to be working to help all Americans, then refused to meet with the incoming mayor of a major city when Trump has been vocal about his opinions of how that city should be run.

If Mamdani and Trump found common ground (public safety being the one talking point that I heard Trump mention), why would it be a problem for Trump to publicly say it and make Mamdani live up to his word? ... not that I expect Mamdani to live up to it or not play word games like Newsom if/when he undermines whatever they may have agreed about.

The sooner you people start to realize that everything in front of cameras are nothing but dog and pony shows, the better. And you all sit here and argue about it all day every day. It’s all fake.

They all get along behind closed doors. They’re all friends. They’re all doing business together.

there was no confrontation, no video of the two of them going back and forth for mamdani to capitalize on with his base

This. Simpletons don't get it. Trump wrote the book, "the art of the deal". Part of that, is disarming your "opponent". Trump has been known to do this in business deals. If the prospective is proud, knock them down with something mundane off the bat. "Man you have really bad breath". If someone is aggressive and confrontational, kill them with kindness. It disarms their preconceptions and causes confusion.

You are a fricking retard. I work in government affairs and personally know members of Congress. They are NOT all friends behind closed doors and doing business together.

Some? Yeah, sure. The GOPe/DNCe uniparty establishment self-enrichers are definitely aligned on a few policy interests that benefit them... but it's hardly all of them working in complete unison behind the scenes and hanging out like they're best buds, laughing at us all. Not even close.

That f@g and Roger are on here daily, criticizing everyone else as not being "real conservatives," while they spout there unhinged TDS nonsense, and receive applause from the worst, insufferable board leftists. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. TDS has broken them.

Oh lawd! If he would've been rude, y'all would say he's immature and not capable of diplomacy and when he tries diplomacy y'all say he's "losing it".
Lol..... It's politics.
Trump definitely isn't "scared" to mix it up with ANYBODY. Maybe his decades of making deals and dealing with people he figures this was the best way to start off with Mudami.
Or..... maybe some guy on a message board should run for president. Idk.. lol

Trump went to NK and established a positive relationship with Kim Jong Un. And you're worried about Mamdani? Trump holds the cards. These side characters will talk big and then come to heel when it comes time to make a deal. Not a needle mover for me.

Come on, dude.

Name someone more pursued.

I could list a few legit contenders, amd opinions differ but Trump is in top 5 easily.

By far the number one in American history
