gut the Election Assistance Commission just before the mid-terms if he is so concerned about fair elections? And now claims our elections are vulnerable and not secure and wants to fix it for the mid-terms.

Why are you against having to show ID to vote?

I’m absolutely not against showing ID and proof of citizenship. I agree with JD Vance that it’s just too late for the mid-terms to enact the SAVE America Act. Use the SAVE America Act for the 2028 election and it needs to be enacted very soon even for that election.

This is like asking why would someone fire the finance department that didn't catch massive financial issues if they really cared about being fiscally on the up and up. Ummmm, because they weren't doing their job very well, I'd imagine.

Let me ask you, if you and your department were tasked with doing a particular thing and you sucked at it, would you expect to keep your jobs?

Because based on the evidence discussed and released last night, and the complete noncooperation of blue states, its pretty fricking useless

Because they were about as effective at ensuring election integrity as the 87,000 new IRS agents were at finding Somali fraud. (And more than likely for exactly the same reason.)

So why wait until just before the mid-terms? Should have been done on Day One of his current term since he has been claiming elections are not secure and can be rigged since 2020.

Did you ever think they might be part of the scumbag problem?Just because some group is in place doesn't mean that they're there for a positive reason....

That's a different question entirely to the point you were making, one that none of us can give an answer for. Perhaps it took time to build a case. Perhaps it took time to be uncovered. There's many reasons why it could've taken the time it did.

I'll ask you again though, if they truly did suck at their jobs, why does it bother you that they lost them?

Are you insinuating those without a government issued ID are unable to go and get said government issued ID in 109 days?

Was it replaced with anything to actually help secure elections?

Is the election "assistance" commission similar to how the splc works to help impoverished blacks

The issue with the original version of the SAVE America Act is to provide documentation for proof of citizenship. There is not enough time for millions of voters to do that, Most people now realize that.

The newly revised version of SAVE America Act is for voters to provide a sworn statement that they are a citizen and then authenticity is checked later. What the hell does that do? It will take months to sort that out.

Also, take out the add-ons of the Act that Trump wants that has nothing to do with voting. It will make it easier to pass. Keep it simple.
