Why Cant We Just Default And Get Rid Of The Entitlement Programs

Our Entitlement spending (Food Stamps, Welfare, Section 8, SNAP, Medicaid, Etc) is the sole reason for the debt to continue to grow with no end in sight. Why does the Federal Government, and Democrats even care to raise taxes if income is 1 and spending is 5? We should just default, and force our hand to cut entitlement programs. Would suck for the Blue base, but maybe they'll finally have to live like the red base. It is appalling the bottom 40 percent of earners in this country pay ZERO income taxes, but live off the top 60% hard earned money!

I'm fine with having some kind of safety net for disabled adults. Every single freeloader program needs to be cut off today.

Agree that we need to redo entitlement programs but we also have so many relying on those programs now that you’d see complete chaos.
Want to see SHTF? Have those cash benefits not show up. Urban areas would turn into disasters overnight. God help anyone stuck in a large city.

Otherwise preciously known as charity and organized through the church. You even got a tax break for donating to the source of such safety nets. Not so much anymore.

The funny thing about entitlement programs is that the lifers in hose programs don't understand that they aren't ENTITLED to a damned thing other than the opportunity to knuckle down and make something of themselves with the latitude that brig free in America provides .

My dad is a disability lawyer and he told me by law the judges award disability to half the cases they see regardless of merit.

It must be done though to balance the budget. The only way to do that is to cut massive entitlement programs. Now were even funding Illegal Aliens by the thousands. At some point the camels back will break.

I swear I recall reading or hearing recently that one of the reasons for welfare was to keep the poor from rising up like the Russian proletariat did and overthrow the government.

Until the American voters desire to ween off government's teet... there will be no cutting going on. Everyone wants to blame politicians for this, but it's "us" the US voter that has caused this.

The bottom sixth percent paid minimal income taxes and live off the top 40 percent.
It's like the classic 80/20 rule.
And it's just going to get worse. Because the democrats don't feel the rich pay enough.

In school I taught kids that deposits must exceed withdrawals at all times. If mentally ill teenagers can learn this then why can't our elected officials grasp the concept?

“Federal dependency” is calculated off total expenditures in the state, NOT handouts.
And a lot of military bases are in red states in part because blue states don’t want them.
