People just don't seem to understand this. Public funding of roads, schools, libraries, etc., is NOT socialism. There's a TV commercial floating around with a bunch of Hollywood folks touting "socialism," but give the examples I gave above. Perhaps they're misguided, or willfully obtuse.

How about you let me keep more of my tax dollars and I will demand less of the government?
LMAO at you fricks that think the government is the fix for anything to do with the health care system...

There will never be “Medicare for all.”
They would just slash the funding per person and in reality it would be “Medicaid for all.” And that is a huge difference.

Our system has pieces of other systems.
"Democratic Socialists" love to talk about the pieces already integrated as if those pieces are the only things that make up Socialism. They never talk about the dark pieces that make up the majority of Socialism.
Why is that?

Because Socialism killed 10s of millions of people in the 20th Century.
Democratic Socialists didn't kill anyone in Britain or France, who had DemSoc parties in power for periods of the post-war era. Why will the socialism enacted here look like Russia in the 20s and 30s, or China in the 50s and 60s, and not France in the 80s, or the UK in the 70s or 90s?
Third Way policies, enacted by Labour in the UK, have been incredibly popular where they've been enacted.

You vote yourself into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out.
That isn't true for Western European cases at all.

There are a lot of people who rely on the government to educate their kids who will actually say with a straight face that they aren’t socialists.
And they'd be right. But of course, you know that already. You just thought you had a cute little "gotcha" point.

sending your kids to public schools doesn't make you a socialist.

Socialist deserve death and only death.

Socialism is an economic theory
"the means of production, distribution, and exchange"

Public Education is worse than the DMV and the VA combined. Public Education has failed second only to the FBI and CIA machines.

Sure it did. Rationed healthcare and long wait times for standard operations lead to deaths that would have been prevented had they been able to obtain their surgery in a timely manner.

So why do the elites in these countries come to America when they want health care?

you're confusing social programs with socialism.
As for any difference between “socialism” & “democratic socialism” and “socialism” and “communism,” though...let’s keep those lines blurred. We have an agenda here.

And yet we have massive amounts of public ed students, disproportionately minority, that read at an elementary level in high school.

Because of economics

I do think it was a lot of the socialist elements of Trump’s campaign that got him elected in 2016 - infrastructure spending, higher taxes on the rich, tariffs, anti-Wall Street, subsidization of coal, etc

The goverment runs the US mail service and Amtrack, which both lose millions if not billions annually, and some of you want them to run our healthcare or even our lives.
