This.

The storm has a likelihood of being historic. The article author is just dumb for going ahead and throwing it in there before the fact.

That's the normal way to spell the female name. But this hurricane is spelled with a 'Y' for some reason. Perhaps to make it more historic.

Because it might have the audacity to hit New England and get itself decared the second Super Storm.

Yes, Virginia, hurricanes have hit New England before, but people like my FIL who remembered them are dead now, so it didn't happen.

But that hasn't happened yet.

What if it doesn't happen? Will they amend all the clips and stories to remove the 'historic'?

The media were calling it a “super storm” before it made landfall and before any damage occurred.

I think the people on the coast of Georgia and South Carolina will appreciate being informed of the likely disaster about to take place BEFORE it happens rather than AFTER the disaster takes place.

60 billion. I hate the storm naming nonsense as much as the next guy but as you said, lets be honest. It did 60 billion in damage. It would get major play and a name no matter where it hit with that much damage.

Because Sarasota got “historic” rainfall amounts.

Remember when they called a marginal Category 1 hurricane "Super Storm Sandy?"

quote:

They even had a nationally televised benefit concert begging the world for donations.

I mean, Sandy was only the largest Atlantic hurricane on record, killed 160 in the US (254 total), ranks at number 6 for the costliest US hurricanes, knocked out power to millions taking days or weeks to restore, directly impacted 25 states and part of Canada. Meh, no big deal.
