I love how literally all of the practical and logistical issues, the important ones, are just erased and ignored regarding the civil war. If the North cared about slaves and keeping the country together why didn’t they have a plan for reconstruction? Why did they attack homes and non military targets of wealth? Why did they confiscate farms and destroy non slave owning communities? They left slaves with no way to provide for themselves and homeless but they did it all for them? Yea ok.

No and it was laid out simply and clearly since you were too stupid to get it the first time. Yet here you are deflecting and proving just how dishonest you are.

Are we still pretending that many of those against slavery didnt share this exact view?

And also that there weren't Southern black slave owners?

Again, wgaf? The op is trying to lay blame for the Confederacy and CW at the feet of Lincoln and the North, and claiming that Slavery wasn't the main factor in the war.

The only problem is that the Confederates (Democrats) said it was their lynchpin and cornerstone

Also, the suspension of habeus corpus didn't occur until 1864 so its pretty disingenuous to use it as justification for the war that started in 1861 less than a month after Lincoln's inauguration.

1864 was when he got congressional authorization but Lincoln unilaterally (and illegally) suspended habeus corpus in 1861.

He also jailed all his political opposition.

Nice article that lays out a lot of opinion without much evidence or citations and basically it says, as I have maintained, the Democrats were angry that Lincoln was elected so the seceded and then started a war they felt was inevitable because they supposed Lincoln was going to end slavery, etc....

Whether all those things they supposed about Lincoln were true or not, THEY attacked the United States three weeks into his presidency so he hardly had a chance to prove them right.

You’re delusional if you think the moon landing and Lincoln’s assassination bears any relevance to anything we’ve talked about and you’re dishonest about who attacked who in this thread.

I know you recognize satire and memes and such because you're not a Democrat, don't act like one.

That said, you literally called me ignorant and attacked me personally first and multiple times, all you gotta do is scroll baw

I know what the satire meant, it was irrelevant and ignorant as you were defending something that didn’t address a single issue I raised.

And no you called me a liar first and told me to gtfo. My first post to you was a simple question and you responded by attacking me.

So as usual you’re at the polar opposite of correct.

You said the North didn't have a plan for reconstruction, I assumed you missed the news of Lincoln's Assassination because he was adamantly in favor of reconciliation and reconstruction and in the beginning stages of implementing at the time of his assassination

You’re gonna keep lying?

Your first post

“Gtfo with this bullshite“

As far as your once again irrelevant point about Lincoln didn’t address a single issue I raised. Lincoln was not the North, he was just the president and his assassination changing what he wanted to do into what actually happened proves my point not yours. You’re talking about intentions not reality.

The South didn't have to draft.
This is not accurate. Sorry.

Certainly the South had an understanding from the Treaty which ended the Revolutionary War that each State individually and the United States collectively were sovereign entities recognized by the British monarch and Southerners by and large placed heart felt loyalty first to their individual home States. Nevertheless, a draft was necessary, and fairly early on.
