alot of low income people who where affected by coivd had a year plus of extra benifits. it seems like alot of them took that time and extra money and moved on from thier shitty jobs. benifits have ran out on the federal level and the state level. so that's not the problem. Wages have been below inflation rates for 20yrs. Now we have the problem that comes with that. People moving on to better paying jobs. i always wondered how chick-fila always had better fast food employees than everyone else in the industry. well $17 an hour will get you a better class of employee than $10hr will every day and it shows.

We need more automation.
That was a great idea when we had 9 people working at once in a fast food restaurant.
But... if companies can get by with 3 people working at once - if the customers will accept that - that's an even greater deal than automation.

Ok. I'm 47. I quit working on Feb 28, 2020 right before the pandemic kickoff.
I'm fortunate enough to have made some wise and lucky investments over 25 years and have a good income. My wife works because she enjoys her job but she could quit any day she felt like it. She's 41.
I could be in the workforce grinding away. I could be helping the GDP, I could be paying more taxes, etc. I could also be bring in additional wealth.
But I did the math 2 years ago and realized that my income from my job was not enough to justify working. We didn't need the money and my time was better spent hunting and fishing and enjoying life. I tell people that I do truly have the best life of anyone I know.

the restaurant pays 10/hr
you work 10 hours
you make $50 in tips
restaurant pays $50 to make up the difference
if you make $100 or more in tips,
restaurant pays NOTHING
they do not pay minimum wage, they only cover the distance between it and tips

I hope you don't think I'm throwing you in the leech crowd; I'm talking about people who have decided their standard of living on government assistance is high enough not to go back to work. If someone is making their own way they don't owe a thing to "the economy", the government or anybody else.

Yeah like "Hard Work" was cool anytime in the past 50-100 years
Do you Boomers even think about what you're saying half the time? Suddenly when the market makes a drastic change and employee compensation is rising there are a lot of shite jobs without people to fill them... you think people just now decided to be lazy? What were they doing before COVID?

Young people today were raised with self esteem promotion....participation trophies, 'A' for effort, etc.
The Boomer participation trophy was buying a house for $10k, sitting on it for a few decades, and selling it for $500k
The younger generation isn't perfect by any stretch, but they also started up during a much tougher time to be successful than the olds. A degree becoming a standard requirement for a lot of entry level jobs in good industries has done a ton of damage.

Come to Alpharetta, GA. Verizon and others import Indians by the boatload. Going to Walmart is like the airport…play the spot a white guy game!
Elementary schools swamped with non-English speaking kids. Almost every woman you see is pregnant.
If stores or fast food have staff, you can bet they aren’t native speakers. Went to Kohl’s the other day, and 90% of staff spoke barely any English and were useless beyond stocking shelves.
We let our employers get away with it. It’s fricking bullshite and I’m sick of it
Wait til factories start coming back here, construction funded by taxpayers with promises of good paying jobs, then they rug pull and automate the entire thing after 5-10 years

You are economically illiterate. I don’t know who told you this, but this isn’t even close to true for non-waiter jobs. It’s also not completely accurate for waitstaff jobs.

I don’t think Kohls is using H1B to hire cashiers.
Who is married to the H1-B?
Hint, it rhymes with H-4.
My kids schools are packed with H-4 kids.

Uh, that never happened unless you bought a house near the Golden Gate Bridge while it was being built.

Man these replies are something else.
I’m one of the sorry lazy ones that makes the choice not to work. The government has never wasted taxpayer money like they have in the last two years. Why do I want to work to feed that wasteful machine? Yeah let me go bust my arse to pay taxes and take pride in giving it to people that want to wipe me off the face of the earth, how patriotic of you. Working to fund the lifestyles of millions of new “citizens” that will vote against my best interests. No thanks
Now I do realize there are millions of lazy people who just do not want to work. Millions of people that don’t have to work. Why? Because you are ok with funding it. You get the bill for them sitting on their arse and you keep paying it.
I’m not on any kind of government assistance, but I will milk it for every penny I legally can at some point though. Now tighten your arse up and get back to work, my bills ain’t gonna pay themselves

How many sneakers and tvs qnd other goods were stolen during the summer of burn loot murder? Billions.
My guess is they’re still living off those stolen goods and basements are still half full of the stuff. Some might be out or getting close so look for a new summer/fall season of burn loot muder part two to restock.
