Dems always trying to regulate cost, just let the free market decide. ppl should stop complaining, stop begging for handouts from the government
i mean...insulin is needed. hard to have a free market with supply/demand when something is needed. I mean they could set the price as high as possible and its still a need. so regulation is fair

because they have a monopoly protected by democrat laws pharmaceutical lobbyists help create that allow them to price it so if you need insulin its $800-$1200 a month it costs you and you cannot live without it.
also 90% of insurance carriers DO NOT COVER insulin in any drug plan because it costs so much, so its all 100% out of pocket from the patient if you need it.
My health insurance is fairly high up on the piss poorometer and with it my insulin is a little over a hundred dollars a month out of pocket.

Why did the Republicans have that taken out of the bill that was just passed (the $35 cap)? I fear that is going to hurt Republicans in the mid terms.

Because I'm a National Socialist, duh.

there is no free market in America, dont know if there ever really was one.

Insulin has an inelastic demand for those who need it. If you so chose, you could ask them to give you all their material possesions and they'd have to agree or die.
For such an important "drug" I do think extra regulation is necessary, not something I really like seeing in general. There is a fine balance between the profit motive - which will insure quality and innovation will continue - and regulation to protect citizens from price gouging. You'd need a Solomon type answer to figure out where that balance lies.

Also because insurance is there because it is supposed to protect you if you need something you can't afford.

Because insulin is a simple product used by millions on a regular basis for health reasons. The government should just take over production if private companies continue to gouge the public who depend on it.

state of California has a $69 billion surplus.
our gov newsome is asking legislature to start up a state run corporation that manufactures insulin and sells at cost in state.
an actual socialist plan.

They should rebate those funds to taxpayers. California’s taxes are insane.

Greed has corrupted the free market.
This won't happen in a free market with a product like insulin, which has been around forever. Three companies have a monopoly on Insulin, and they have complex patent protections that prevent competition.
If the market were truly free, and more companies could enter the market, then prices would go way down.
Why is insulin so expensive?

Are we talking the same government that used to get charged $3,000 for a hammer by defense contractors? This is like saying I hate getting bent over a rock by Peter, I want to be bent over a rock by Paul.

So tell me why those same republicans voted against the insulin cap?
