Yep! Boomer here, we had nine kids in the family and one income..my father. Wore hand me downs, usually one or two gifts for Christmas, ate a lot of mash potatoes and gravy because mom could feed a lot of children with potatoes. One black and white TV, one car, scrounged up soda bottles and the occasional lawn mowing job for a little bit of money.

You think that ^^^^ was uncommon? It wasn’t. There were many families when I was a boy with 5-10 children and only the father working and we all got along by doing with less and many times the church would have food drives for families with a lot of children. Yeah….I’m a BOOMER!

Families were larger, homes were smaller.
And usually one older family vehicle.
Going out for dinner was a rare treat.
Plenty of hand me downs.
Vacations were few and simple.
As a kid I worked cutting yards, had a job painting for the city, worked fast food when I was in High School.
I don't know how younger generations got it in their head that we lived such abundant pampered lives.
If I wanted something it was pretty much "there's a lawn mower in the garage, knock yourself out".

Now every 30 year old thinks they are suffering if they don't have a McMansion, Tahoe, latest gadgets, and trip to Europe every year.

It’s hilarious how closely you boomers sound like the progressives you claim to hate

No, unlike all of you here in this thread, I was taught the value of taking responsibility for and owning your choices. You on the other hand, like so many other of you self absorbed boomers, absolutely refuse to accept any responsibility for anything.

ThE mIlLeNiaLs dId iT. Own what you’ve done to this nation and quit being a bitch. You’re running out of time to finally be a man

No, we didn't claim that our parents and grandparents were well off because they were handed a golden ticket.
We assumed that they were well off because they worked their a$$ off and made good decisions.

Your generation is the first generation to blame their failures on everyone else.
The first generation to think that every generation ahead of them was handed a golden ticket.
You sound like one of those lazy, ignorant, jealous losers.
Do better, you control your fate, stop blaming everyone else for your failures.

Because they aren't competent to actually think for themselves and accept personal responsibly for their actions.

Every time I wonder about my kids, this board makes me feel better. All of my kids are in their twenties and have strong careers started and moving through life just fine. No whining and blaming others. When crap happens, they just deal with it and move on. Looking at some of the young people here, I’d be ashamed for anyone to know I had a hand in raising that. What’s bunch of sniffling candyasses.

They are worthless parasites who’ve added nothing to the world and have set the human race back decades. Empty shells, frail, dishonest, stupid, insecure and selfish.

you are aware millennials work and pay taxes too right? At least I have to.

I think you're making assumptions based on what you see online.

This is the biggest crock of bull shite. I joined the work force in 1979. Unemployment was high, inflation was about 13% and interest rates were double digits. I never had a pension. My parents were greatest generation, but were not on the affluent side. My Dad left me nothing but his name. So tell me again how privileged I am. I worked hard for everything I have!

Exactly.

1982 had highest unemployment rate since the depression, out of control inflation, and interest rates at 20 percent.
Stimulus checks? What's that?
And if you lost your job good luck getting health insurance.
You were easily denied for any pre-existing condition, and if you could get it it cost a fortune.
No ACA or free Obamacare back in the day.
You better not get sick or your life savings is gone.

That's some real Golden Ticket stuff right there !

Ah boomers talking about how they went to college for 10 bucks and bought a house with 99% leverage for 5 dollars.

Congrats on causing the biggest financial crisis since the 1930s and the worst politicians American history has ever produced.

I don’t like to make overall generalizations about generations

I will target certain groups. It is the boomers in congress mortgaging the future at the expense of generations to follow. It is the boomers in congress that laid the foundation for progressivism to take root in the country, social security, debt, tuition inflation, banking crisis, college tuition, masking children and quarantining young and healthy to spare themselves, pretty much everything you hate about this country today has its beginnings with boomers in congress selfishly lining their pockets at the expense of everyone to come after

boomers that literally refuse to leave their seats of power and wealth until they are on the verge of death or senility

I think the boomer generation as a whole is a great generation, but that group in congress sure isn’t doing any favors to the boomer legacy
