Yep! Boomer here, we had nine kids in the family and one income..my father. Wore hand me downs, usually one or two gifts for Christmas, ate a lot of mash potatoes and gravy because mom could feed a lot of children with potatoes. One black and white TV, one car, scrounged up soda bottles and the occasional lawn mowing job for a little bit of money.

You think that ^^^^ was uncommon? It wasn’t. There were many families when I was a boy with 5-10 children and only the father working and we all got along by doing with less and many times the church would have food drives for families with a lot of children. Yeah….I’m a BOOMER!

I worked my way through college.
I probably averaged 4 hours of sleep the entire time.
I majored in Computer Science, not liberal arts nonsense.
I lived below my means while maxing out 401k, Roth, and investing every penny.

Silly me, I thought that it was all of that hard work, sacrifice, and delayed gratification that allowed me to retire early.

Nah, I was just handed a golden ticket.

Every generation has their challenges.
Stop whining and blaming everyone else for your failures and bad decisions.

You're in the vast minority. A big problem with boomers is that they refuse to retire because they lived beyond their means. Congrats to you, but you're the outlier.

Also this meme that only boomers worked hard is kind of silly. Millennials work hard as well but they simply don't have the opportunities. Real wage growth is nothing an inflation has devalued the dollar for 40 years.

When a boomer graduated high school, they had the opportunities to support their family with a single earner without a degree. That is simply not possible today almost anywhere. Hell it's almost too expensive to rent in most places with a single salary.

Also, this is ignoring the fact that boomers in power for about 20 years. Look at how our national debt has changed in those 20 years

Most of us busted our asses and had failures as well as successes. For those that persevered that success became permanent.

This is the biggest crock of bull shite. I joined the work force in 1979. Unemployment was high, inflation was about 13% and interest rates were double digits. I never had a pension. My parents were greatest generation, but were not on the affluent side. My Dad left me nothing but his name. So tell me again how privileged I am. I worked hard for everything I have!
